Brandy

Brandy is still alive today, thankfully. She is a 12 year old purebred black lab, and i've had her since I was 5.1

Every day she worries me, because she has hip problems, and can barely walk. I spend almost all of my time with her because I know we don't have much time left together. She is literally my best friend, and I'll miss her when she's gone. 2

I dread the day when I have to walk in the door and she's not laying on her blanket, or curled up on the hardwood floor to keep cool. One of the days I feared the most has already arrived, and that's the day she can't sleep on my bed anymore.3

Every night she would lay against the length of my side and she would keep me warm. Now she can't jump up on the bed, or down from it without hurting herself.4

I don't dwell on that, because she still gets excited when I come home, and she still follows me everywhere I go, and she still sits next to me at the table with her ears perked up begging for food. 5

Even though I'll miss her I'll always have the precious memories we have together, and all of the pictures of her and me growing up together.
