Use of Candles Through History.1
Candles, as we know, where mainly invented so that human kind could have light, correct? And if this is their main purpose, then what other uses would a candle have or be used for besides providing light for our eyes to see the world around us in the dark?2
Well, let us think about this for a moment. I want you to think about all of the things that a candle can be used for. Take some time and then come back to this and then read some of the things I have listed below. How many are listed, how many have you thought of that are not listed. Take your time and I will see you back here in a while.3

Ok, so you have taken the time to sit down and think about all of the uses or ways that a candle can be used for, correct? Good, but before we go any further, I would like to point out a very valid fact. This fact is that a candle can be used in any way that a person sees fit to use it. There is no one list or one way of employing them. If any one says that they know of all of the way to use a candle they are self-delusional. Now I do not say this to be mean or cruel or even condescending. But as a way of pointing out that there is no way possible for a person to know of all of the way a candle can be employed. Why? Well think about it. There are cultures whom have been lost to time, there are different ways of thinking due to the changing of the times, and not to mention the fact that there are new ways of using them being thought up all of the time all over the world. So it is not possible to know all of the ways.5
With that said I will list several different ways of employing the use of candles and I will try and stick with the major known ways, though I just might through in a few not so well known uses just for fun and shock sake.6

And many, many, many, many more.35
I am sure that you have either seen something you did not think of or that you have come up with a use that is not listed. As I stated above I was not going to list them all, but that I would list some of the more well known uses. If you like I would suggest writing down your own list of uses for your own personal ways of using candles. This is entirely up to you though.36
So, we can now see that through the course of time that candles have evolved in different ways through out different cultures but that no mater the cultural back ground candles unite us in many ways. Especially if you look at the fact that the main purpose of a candle is to provide light. 37
The candle is a very unique and varied item that is shrouded in mystery and in practicality. I hope that you have learned at least a little something from this part of my course.38

Interesting and Informative
This is so true - the uses of a candle are plenty. I had a smile when I read about candles being used for sealing. This is something I learnt quite recently. I was amazed at how beautifully the wax sealed the letters and envelopes. You won't believe but guess what I used - a bangle I had got at an exhibition in Mumbai last year. It broke accidentally from me and I was about to throw it when my dad's friend asked me to get a matchbox and he drew out a stick in style and lit it. Then he allowed the melted wax to fall on the envelope thereby sealing a letter of mine. WOW...I was just so much in awe, delight and admiration at this entire process. Candles took on a whole new meaning for me that day
Just had to share this on the site with you and who ever will drop in to read this.
Can't wait to read the next part of this very good course.
Best wishes,
Charishma
