Chapter 32

“I know why my father became the son of a bitch he did.” Artemis exasperated with a venomous tone.3

“Well, please, do share.” Replied Anakire in an overly excited tone. 4

“Anakire, umh, Maybe it would be better if you read it yourself” Artemis unwrapped a book from flaps of leather. The book was indeed something to marvel at in its own existence. The binding obviously the work of a Fae.  The inscription across the top read “El belme comtine sulvige” which in the language of vampires’ means “I’ll see you in the next world” 5

“My lord, it is beautiful,” admitted Anakire.  Anakire then gasped at a chicken scratch that was out of place and forced upon the journal. The mark of the dead was scratched into the hilt of a sword pointing downwards, a symbol of the dark arts. “Oh my sweet, sweet asshole of a husband, just what were you thinking?” She opened the journal and Sira jumped onto the couch next to her whilst Minister, the snowy owl whom occasionally blessed them with his presence, perched himself upon her shoulder. 6

And thus the journal began….7

Last night, was a terrible night. I had a visitor from the watchers once again. They crave for the blood of my young. They will have them. They will have to come through me. Tonight I will decide what I am to do about this. My dear Anakire mustn’t know the troubles that repeatedly claw agony throughout my entire body. This undesirable feeling of misery mustn’t travel into my family’s eyes. Although it begins to rake at my physical well being, and I think Anakire is sensing it as well, I will handle this on my own.8

Anakire set down the journal with tears in her eyes. Why hadn’t he told her the watchers were after their children? Why hadn’t he known the colony would have protected them? Did he really believe the watchers were that powerful? We were the ones with governmental connections after all. Was there a leak within the system? 9

A scream rang out from upstairs..  Anakire set to her feet immediately.. Sira at her heels.. 10

“Oh my god…” whispered Anakire11
