Acid Hole Of Habit

Someone was calling her name. Someone wearing a grin, a Cheshire cat grin. Somebody with sharp teeth, long sharp teeth...1

“Alice!” Alice opened her eyes. Her sister stood over her. “Are you awake?” Sarah asked, giving Alice one more good shake.2

“Yea.” Alice sat up. She had passed out on the couch again. Her sister sat down next to her, rubbing her back comfortingly. Alice blinked away the crust in her eyes and pressed one hand against her temple. She always had weird dreams after trips.3

“Follow the white rabbit.” Sarah said, startling Alice. The white rabbit? How would Sarah know about the white rabbit in Alice's dreams?4

“What?” Alice blurted out. 5

“I said, this is becoming habit.” Sarah repeated. “Are you alright?” Alice looked over at her sister, ridiculously skinny and frail. Alice was fine, but she saw bruises and track marks all over Sarah's arms.6

“I'm fine.” Alice pointed at some blood on Sarah's wrist. “It looks like you are the one with the habit.” Sarah frowned and pulled her sleeves down over her arms.7

“Eat me, drink me.” Sarah said. Alice blinked rapidly. What was going on?8

“What?” Alice asked, shaking her head.9

“Do you want something to eat? To drink?” Sarah asked, her expression a puzzled one. “What did you take Alice?”10

“Just...acid. Just acid.” Alice replied. Just a little acid. Just a little trip.11

“Mad hatter tea in a syringe.” Sarah smiled that wicked Cheshire cat smile. “A drugged up binge.” Alice, startled, jumped up from the couch and backed away from her sister.12

“What's wrong with you?!” Alice yelled, backing away from that twisted grin. 13

“What?” Sarah stood up. The grin was gone. She was Sarah. “I asked did you use my syringe? Did you take something else? Other then acid?” Sarah narrowed her eyes. “What's wrong with you Alice?”14

“I don't know.” Alice began to shake. Her legs were unsteady. It was too much like her dream, she was going back into her dream. That place, that hole. That acid hole.15

“Off with her head.” Sarah smiled, baring sharp fangs. Alice, overwhelmed with fear, collapsed. She blacked out for a second, then opened her eyes to find herself back on the couch. Sarah had somehow managed to get her over to the sofa. “You're losing your head Alice.” Sarah said.16

“Bad trip.” It was all Alice could think to say. “It's just a bad trip.” Bad trips were followed by bad dreams. Whatever she had seen, it was just a bad dream. Just another trip. “Maybe you should go back to sleep.” Sarah said. Alice nodded, it was a good idea. She just needed rest, that's all.17

Sarah left her alone, and Alice rolled over and clutched a pillow to her chest. It wasn't a dream, she decided, but a nightmare. Another nightmare brought on by some bad acid. She smiled, thinking about how silly Sarah looked with that cat grin. 18

After a few minutes she began to drift off. Alice's eyes closed, then opened. They opened and absorbed her surroundings. She was back.19

“Alice.” Alice heard a voice behind her. She looked back and saw Sarah. Her sister was pointing past her. “Follow the white rabbit.” Alice followed the direction Sarah pointed and saw it. The acid hole of habit. The wonderland of addiction.

Author notes

I know the ending is abrupt. Let's say it's a never ending cycle. It's supposed to be confusing too, remember, this is a bad trip.
