Hook, Line, and (hopefully) Sinker

Dear Ms. Pixie,1

Thank you for your time in reviewing my upcoming novel, titled "The Wind's Keeper". This is my first full length novel, one I am very proud of, and I hope you enjoy it.2

The story follows a young unwed mother, Allandra, who leaves her infant daughter with her village wisewomen to find more about her past in the Veressai Kingdom's capitol city. The journey itself is dangerous, as she has inherited the elemental power of wind from somewhere in her family, and magick-users are distrusted and in some parts of the kingdom, persecuted. Once she arrives she meets other characters vital to her quest and learns that not everything, or everyone, is as they seem. Her time in the kingdom covers her following the footsteps of her mother, who would never admit who she was, and in the end she is faced with a dangerous reality check.3

"The Wind's Keeper" has been percolating in my head for quite some time now, the initial inspiration stemming from when I first begam to write; I had always been a reader of fantasy and paranormal genres, and with Wicca being in my family, it was easy for me to draw up a story of witch queens and faerie princesses. Since I began to read I have written, sometimes just a twist in my current reading book, or a short plotline to an idea. In my time on the site www.storywrite.com, I have honed my writing skills and pared down my vision for my stories, and have been published in two magazines and my school's Short Story Corner in our newspaper. I have won no trophies on StoryWrite, but I still put pen to paper and enter.4

Again, thank you for your time, Ms. Pixie. I assume you are a very busy woman and I am humbled by your taking time to read this letter.5

Sincerely,6

My story is not actually the exact one described here, it is in truth an erotica piece, but I don't think I want it as such. It does follow Allandra, though; the details are pretty much the same. In the story she goes from being a simple victim of marauders who killed her parents and took her sisters and her hostage, to being trained (undercover) as an Elemental Mage. The focus is on her growth both as a magic user and as a person, and the novel watches as she goes on her quest to find herself and justice for her slain family. 8

Author notes

"The Wind's Keeper" is listed on SW as "Allandra's Book" (or something to that effect). I am not going to revisit this story, as I haven't written on it in quite some time, and revise it with my new vision.

Professional, well written and easily read. I'm intrigued by the story idea for sure (And I'm Wiccan so brownie points to you). It sounds like it would be an interesting read. Thank you for your entry, Anonymous.
