Broken Hope Chapter 51

It was now 8:00am. Carol said there was clothes on a chair next to each of our beds, she told us to put them on and pick up the bag on the floor next to the chair also.2

We both got dressed in what looked like a school uniform. I quickly flicked through the bag and saw a pencil case with all the school necessities, I quickly closed my bag and ran downstairs. I saw everyone now in there school clothes and ready to go to school. 3

“Ok Rose, John is in your class so just stick with him” Carol said.4

“And Sean, Natalie is in your class”5

Sean just nodded and kept gazing at Natalie.6

I could see he liked her… 7

We all hopped into a white van and drove for what seemed about 10 minutes. We all hopped out and they all went off, only John and I were still at the van. John introduced me to a few of his mates, then the bell went and I went to class.8

My teacher was named Mr. Bee. He was a tall man with straight black hair with some blonde streaks. He had baby blue eyes and a chubby baby face.9

“Hello class, we have a new student here today, ok.. Her name is Rose and has just moved into a new house, and a new school, so please make her feel welcome” Mr. Bee said.10

“Welcome Rose” The whole class said.11

“You can take a seat next to John if you want to” Mr. Bee said.12

I then sat down in between John and a girl I don’t quite know.13

“Hi, my names Samantha” She whispered.14

“Pleased to meet you” I whispered and put out my hand to shake hers.15

She grabbed the hand and shook it while saying “Pleased to meet you too”16

Class finished and we went out to recess. Recess was boring, everyone kept looking at me and then looking back at there own groups. So far school was hard. I didn’t know anyone except for the people in the household and John’s mates. We all sat together… the whole family. The bell rang once again and we all went to our next class and just like the other class I sat next to John. The teacher told us to take out our books and to turn to page two hundred and seventy four. We did work on Inequality, when I was done I put up my hand and told him. He was surprised that I had finished so quick, so surprised that he almost fell back and hit his head. He said I could have some quite free time. A few minutes later another girl finished and came to sit next to me. Her name was Bella. She had beautiful baby blue eyes and brown hair with golden streaks, she was pretty. 17

We talked and got to know each-other and became best friends. At lunch I got invited to sit with her. I asked John and everyone else if I was allowed to, of course they said yes. So I went to sit with her and met yet more people. We all talked and became very fond of each others company. The bell went and half lunch was taking place. Boys all went onto the field to play a game of soccer. I went to watch them, I even got invited to play. I played and scored 2 goals. The finishing score was 12-6 our way. We won!18

The bell went again and I moved to class. At the door to the classroom I bumped into a boy named Gary Fordwick. He was the hottest guy in the whole school. 19

“Sorry” we both said.20

“ha-ha” Gary laughed. 21

It was the hottest laugh I have ever heard. Everything about him was hot, what he was wearing, his voice, his laugh, his face, his smile. There was only word for him. ‘wow’22

I started to blush but forced myself to stop. He started to turn away so I said,23

“Are you ok, I hope I didn’t hurt you”24

He turned back and said, 25

“No, I’m fine, I’m actually more worried about you.”26

He started blushing. I looked up at him and we went in for the kiss…27

We were interrupted by my other classmates coming up the hall. Elizabeth smiled at Gary and he just walked away saying goodbye to me. We went back into class and Elizabeth asked what went on out there between Gary and me. I just said “We were talking”. She asked “What were you talking about, because he barely ever talks to anyone. 30

“We were just talking ok, so just please be quite and do your work”31

She was quite and she did her work. “What were you and Elizabeth talking about?” John asked.32

“We were talking about nothing” 33

“Ok, Ok” He continued with his work. I had enough of everyone asking about what happened between me and Gary so I asked Mr. Bee if I could go to the bathroom. I started on my way to the bathroom and bumped into Barry, Gary’s brother.34

**“What happened between you two?” Barry asked.35

*“Nothing”36

**“Yeah right. He didn’t do his work, he wouldn’t listen to me. Something happened.”37

*“We were just talking…”38

**“Bullshit”39

*“I’m serious…”40

**“Whatever”41

*“I have to go…”42

**”Whatever”43

I headed back to class and bumped into Gary. “Don’t listen to Barry, he just wants to know everything”44

“Ha-ha, yeah…”45

I looked into his eyes, which looked like beautiful shining stars. He looked into my eyes. He leaned in… Barry walked around the corner just as our lips touched. “Oi!”46

We both looked around and saw him. “What are you doing Gary?”47

“Umm… nothing” Gary said.48

“I saw you two kissing” He crossed his hands.49

“Uhh…” He blushed. “So what?”50

“So what!?”51

“Yeah, so what”52

“Dude, that’s like the reason your so popular is cause you turn all the girls down when they ask if you want to be there boyfriend”53

“Well, were not boyfriend and girlfriend yet, so get over it.”54

“Well…. Just it’s that your popular cause you have never kissed a girl or dated one.”55

“If that’s why then I don’t want to be popular, I love her, got a problem?”56

“Yeah actually, cause when you are popular, I am.”57

This broke Gary’s heart. His brother didn’t love him, he just wanted to be popular.58

“You know what, fuck off.”59

“What you say to me?”60

“I said fuck off.”61

Brian walked up the corridor to see where Rose was. He got called to the office to go and find her. He saw her and Gary and Barry. 62

“What’s going on here?”63

“Nothing” We all said at the same time.64

He looked us all in the eyes and then said 65

“Ok then… Well.. Rose you got to go to class.”66

“Ok.”67

I started on my way to class and bumped into John. 70

“Listen, Rose… I love you… can we go out?”71

“Huh?”72

“Can we go out?”73

“Uhh, well..”74

“What’s wrong, already got a boyfriend?”75

At this he laughed and I didn’t so he looked at me with a confused look on his face.76

“No, its just that..”77

“That what? I’m not good enough for you?”78

“No..”79

“Then what”80

Gary walked in and said81

“Cause we are going out”82

“Huh…” John said.83

“Is this true Rose?”84

“A little bit”85

He ran outside crying. I ran after him and caught up to him. He fell to his knees and continued crying.86

“Are you two really dating?” He said in-between sobs.87

“I don’t know, I mean we kissed…”88

He cried louder.89

“No, let me finish”90

“Fine, hurry up, I don’t have all day”91

“We kissed but, he never said were dating or asked me our or anything.”92

“That means you two aren’t dating?”93

“No”94

“Ok”95

He got up, wiped his eyes with his jumper sleeve and sniffled back his tears.96

He walked back with me and we both went to class.97

After class ended it was time to go home.98

I followed John to the van and we all hopped in.99

I felt awkward.100

We got home and entered the door.101

We all sat down in the kitchen on the chairs.102

They were cold against my clothes.103

“Why are we sitting here” I asked.104

“We sit here everyday after school and at 4:00 on Saturday and Sunday to collect our pocket money which varies on behaviour and age” Brian answered.105

“Oh, ok… cool”106

“By the way Rose. Before you go to sleep we need to talk if that’s alright”107

“Yeah, that would be fine”108

“Sweet”109

As he had just finished saying sweet Carol entered the room. 110

“Ok everyone, its time for pocket money”111

“Sweet!” they all shouted.112

“Ok, I’m coming around now, close your eyes and put out your hands and don’t open them until I say so”113

She went around the room giving out the money and then said.114

“Ok, open your eyes guys”115

I opened my eyes and saw that I had $25 in my hand.116

Everyone asked me how much I had gotten, I said I had $25 and they go117

“No way!”118

They all shouted out different amounts which confused me a little.120

I put mine in one of my bra’s so no-one could find it. 121

I thought everyone would know the number to my safe because they had lived here a lot longer then I had.122

They all went shopping and spent it all. While they were shopping I wandered off and looked in an electric store and was looking at the new I-Phone which I wanted so badly. I looked at the price. 123

“Well, if I keep getting this amount of pocket money I should get it in 4 days” I whispered to myself.124

I went back to where they were and they asked what I had bought.125

“Nothing, I’m going to save up for something I want.”126

“And what’s that?” John said with a smartass look on his face.127

“An I-Phone”128

They all stood there wide mouthed and just stared at me.129

“Hello..” I waved my hand in front of there eyes “Anybody home”130

They all came back to ‘Earth’ 131

We went back home and had some afternoon tea and then I had a shower and got dressed into my Pyjamas which were greeny blue betty boop pants and button up long sleeve shirt. I always had my shirt undone and loose and a singlet underneath the shirt.132

I then went downstairs and helped cook dinner and ate it.133

I then made my way to my room and jumped on my bed.134

Brian walked in and said135

“Hey, time for our talk”136

“Ok…”137

“So, what was going on between you, Gary and Barry?”138

“Nothing”139

“Don’t lie”140

“I’m not lying”141

“Bullshit”142

“Fine, well, Gary kissed me and Barry walked in and saw us and then John walked in and got the wrong idea. I mean, John a nice bloke but we are now like brother and sister. So, I like Gary more. But I don’t want to break John’s heart. I don’t know how to tell him”143

“Just tell him like you have told me”144

“I can’t it’s too slack”145

“Just do it or your going to break his heart even more”146

“Fine, I’ll do it tomorrow”147

“Ok”148

I then lay down and couldn’t sleep all I could think about was what I was going to say to John and how to say it.149

I eventually fell asleep. I woke up the next morning and had a quick shower, got dressed in my school uniform and went downstairs. I sat in the kitchen and then we all once again hopped into the white van. On the way to school inside the van John started talking to me. I said150

“Listen, about what we talked about yesterday.. We are brother and sister, its not going to work out”151

“Your kidding me right?”152

He had a confused look on his face.153

“No, I’m not.”154

He opened his side of the van door and jumped out. He splatted on the floor and as if that wasn’t enough he was run over by a car.155

“NOO!!!” I yelled.156

Carol stopped the van and jumped out with great haste. She stopped the cars and went to the now dead body of John. I jumped out to and cried at his side. We moved the body onto the footpath and let the traffic through. We called the ambulance and said he was dead but they said they will only pick up alive people. Carol was angry, so I put the body in the car and we took it home. Carol rang the school and said we cant come to school and explained the situation. They excused us from school and we all went home…….157

When we got home we called the undertaker’s and they took the body to the funeral we had planed on the way home. They got here around 12pm and we went in a car and followed the undertaker’s car to the funeral. We got the funeral and said a few words. When it was finished we watched the coffin being lowered into the ground as I let a tear fall to the ground. I felt a hand touch my shoulder, I turned around and no-one was there. I heard a voice saying160

“I loved you Rose, why did you have to do that?”161

I asked anyone if they heard it, of course they didn’t. They thought I had better leave the cemetery, so they took me back home. I jumped onto my bed and pulled my pillow to my face and cried. Brian walked in and comforted me. 162

“It’s going to be all right”163

“No, no its not… its my fault he jumped out of the van”164

“Don’t say that”165

“But its true!”166

“No its not”167

“It is, I said I cant go out with him in the van then he said something then he jumped out”168

“Oh, so that’s why he jumped”169

“What do you mean by “In that case…””172

“In that case we at least know why he committed suicide”173

“Thanks, that is so comforting” I said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes.174

“Aye, im trying to support you but also I was curious of why he jumped, I even thought the door swang open and he fell out”175

“Well, now you know” I started crying even more.176

“Please don’t cry”177

He left the room and I cried even more. I got a phone call from the police station saying that my dad would have to be hanged for killing my mum and almost killing me.180

I cried even more. 181

“Why is everything going wrong all at once.182

“I wonder where Rose is, and the rest of her family” Gary said.184

“Maybe she couldn’t say that its over and she just stayed home” Barry said.185

He called my mobile and I picked up.190

“Hello” I said.191

“Hey, where are you?”192

“I’m at home”193

“John committed suicide”195

“I’m serious, we just had his funeral”197

“Fine, don’t believe me, but im going to say this now. If you cant support me or believe me then you can go get fucked”199

“You breaking up with me?” He laughed.200

“Seeing as you laughing at me after John died and my dads also being hanged soon. Yes”201

“Its over?” He started crying.204

“Yea, it is over. You cant believe me Fuck off”205

I hanged up on him angrily. 206

“Did she break up with you?” Barry said.207

“Yea… I should of believed her.”208

“Believed her? What did she say”209

“She said that John committed suicide and her dads going to be hanged shortly. All she needed was someone to support her and believe her”210

“Don’t worry about it man, at least you have learnt your lesson with girls”211

“Why cant you just believe in me for once?”212

“I don’t know”213

“Well, just believe in me then something might go right for once”214

“Nahh”215

Gary walked away. Barry went the other way.216
