Together ; It doesn't feel right at all [Chapter 20]

“Ashley, Ashley is it true?” someone asked.1

“Is what true?” Ashley asked already knowing the answer.2

“Is Kelsey pregnant?” 3

Ashley’s face crumpled, she’d been expecting Claire to say something to someone, but she never imagined everyone would no.4

“No,” Ashley snapped. “She’s not who told you that?”5

“Claire said she heard you shouting it to one of your friends.” The girl said.6

“Well I don’t remember that, so stop spreading rumors.” Ashley said quietly and walked out of the room.7

She should have known that Claire wouldn’t keep her mouth shut. When Ashley turned around and so Claire standing behind her she quickly denied what she had previously said, but Claire either didn’t believe her but decided that it would be good gossip or Claire did believe her and decided to spread it around anyway. What was she doing telling Nat anyway? Nat didn’t deserve to know, but Ashley had been so angry that day. Now she totally regretted it, now Kelsey would never forgive her.8

“You bitch!” Kelsey screamed running towards Ashley “I fucking told you that as a friend! And it was so private how could you go and tell everyone in school?! You bitch!” Kelsey screamed and punched Ashley in the face.10

Ashley held her face and screamed.11

“Ow! I’m so sorry Kelsey,” Ashley said beginning to cry “I never meant to it just came out.”12

“How could it ‘just come out’? How the fuck does oh by the way Kelsey’s pregnant just pop up in a conversation?” Kelsey shouted.13

“I was so angry, it was that day I saw you in the shop, and after that I was so angry and I was shouting in the park and Claire heard me, I tried to deny it but she didn’t believe me.” Ashley said crying into her hands.14

Kelsey heard the pain in Ashley’s voice and knew she was telling the truth and Ashley wasn’t a very good liar.15

“Okay,” Kelsey finally said “I believe you, it doesn’t matter anyway they were bound to find out sooner or later.”16

“Yeah but James wasn’t. I’m so sorry.” Ashley said and began to cry again. 17

Kelsey put her around her.18

“It doesn’t matter, it doesn’t matter anymore.” Kelsey said softy.19

They hugged in silence for a minute and all that could be heard was Ashley’s sobs. 20

“Come on it’s time to go to class.” Kelsey muttered.21

And then the two girls slowly made their way to class.22

“Kelsey! Kelsey! Kelsey!” James shouted “Wait up!”24

“Get the fuck away from me.” She muttered angrily and kept walking.25

“Kelsey, stop!” James said grabbing her arm.26

“Don’t touch me!” Kelsey said.27

“Kelsey I know ok and we have to talk about this.”28

“There is nothing to talk about, okay? Absolutely nothing. Now get away from me, I have to go home.” Kelsey said and stomped off.29

James ran after her,30

“You can’t do this Kelsey - that is my baby.”31

“I can’t do anything I want, just like you could walk over my heart and break it, I can do this.”32

Kelsey said and kept on walking33

“Kelsey we could start again,” James shouted after her “I’d forget Claire and everyone else, it would just be me and you. Please Kelsey.”34

Kelsey stopped dead in her tracks. Start again? Start again with James, her baby’s father, her first true love and the one who took her virginity? Start again with James the one who made her laugh like no one else? Maybe she could start again, maybe it could be just like old times.35
