Dreams and Visions: Searching for another Way in Solving Problems2
I. Introduction3
In the Topical Guide to the LDS scriptures, notably the Bible, there are three reference categories that are useful for screenplay writing of a movie film.4
Dreams and Visions: Problem-Solving. Understanding our search for another way becomes clearer by reading these scriptures from Matthew:5
1) Matt 1:20 Lord appeared unto him in a dream. [Dreams]6
2) Matt 2:12 warned … in a dream that they should not return. [Dreams]7
3) Matt 2:19 angel appeared in a dream to Joseph. [Dreams]8
4) Matt 2:22 being warned of God in a dream he turned aside. [Dreams]*9
5) Matt 27:19 I have suffered many things … in a dream because of him. *10
6) Matt 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you. [Problem-Solving]11
7) Matt 17: 9 Tell the vision to no man. [vision]12
II. Formula13
In writing a screenplay of a movie film here is a formula: this but this so this.14
Fill in the blanks [Dennis Packard, Ph.D. Philospophy and Literature, BYU] 15
Line of action 1: __________is trying to __________. 16
Opening scene: 17
_________ but _________. So _______. 18
First downturn 19
_________ but _________. So ________. 20
Second downturn 21
_________ but _________. So ________. 22
Closing scene: 23
_________ but _________. So _______. 24
II. Using scripture guide25
Taking reference 5) above "suffered many things", create a line of action.26
Pilate is trying to judge the King of the Jews before the people of Judah.27
Pilate asks the people of Judah. But they ask for another. So Pilate does evil. 28
a) His wife sent him a letter. But his wife has suffered many things this day.29
So it was in a dream.
It was because of the King. But it was in a dream.30So, "Have nothing to do with that just man." Pilate regards letter. But he judges the King of the Jews. So he released another and crucified the King.31
Apply this line of action to a current line of action in a school you attend.32
III. For example: Fill in the blanks33
Line of action 1: Guy is trying to avoid a beating from other schoolboys. 34
Opening scene: 35
Other schoolboys beat on Guy. But they are fighting with only him.36
So too many other schoolboys over-whelm him. 37
First downturn 38
Guy stands up against other school boys. But he is alone with no help.39
So they beat him down. 40
Second downturn 41
Guy is alone by himself. But he has fallen down. 42
So he lies helpless and fainted. 43
Closing scene: 44
Other school boys beat Guy. But he cannot defend himself from many others. So he lies defeated without a friend. 45

IV. Conclusion60
Dreams and Visions: Problem-Solving in the LDS scriptures topical guide provided a means for screenplay writing in movie films with a formula.61
Dreams and Visions in Matthew show another way in searching for solving problems. By a dream, the Holy family returned another way. When we in our unholy family, like the pair in Acts, who withheld their money, chose badly, we can ask and receive answers. Pondering, receiving and keeping it to ourselves will often provide a solution to any problem we are solving.62
The formula to writing a line of action will structure opening and closing scenes because there is a logical transition of downturns between them. Also the this but this so this types-and-shadows prototype gives vision to dreams.63

This seems to be a scene; [it is] not a line of action 66
that takes some time to complete. 67
