Amazon, Intro

From the very beginning the Amazons were doomed.  Hippolyte fell to Heracles and Antiope to Theseus.  As tiime dragged on the various Amazon tribes disbanded, the women dispersed and joined other tribes.  But these tribes fell from the pages of history as well; truth was distorted and the Amazons and their descendents became nothing more than a myth.  One story, however, survived time.1

It was no wonder that the Amazon queen had stiff joints, sore muscles, and a throbbing headache that never ceased.  She had already lived through so much in her 32 years, but it was really her daughter who caused her ailments to continue.  Not that it was entierely the girl's fault; a prophecy had been made when she was born naming her as the end of the Amazons.  The poor queen wanted very much to prove that the young princess was not the child of the prophecy as everyone thought. 2

Whatever efforts her mother may have tried to restore the confidences of her people, Hadria quickly lost with one single act.  It wasn't that the princess wasn't likable, she was in fact quite agreeable; it was her extreme irresponsibility and laziness that made her unpopular.  You could never find her in the fields, on the training grounds, or in the great hall (unless she was hiding from her mother or her advisors).  It was more likely you'd find her with her two closest friends, Vivi and Kara, in the tavern of the local village or lounging about in the forest are surronding her fortress home.3

The rest of the Amazons did their duty without fail.   They tended the fields, feed and watered the animals needed to feed and watered, ran the kitchens, and somewhere in their busy schedule found time for their daily training.  There was no time to think only of themselves.  It was a matter of surival, and survival meant everyone working together, everyone doing their share, everyone but three.4

I love greek myths!!! I would definitely like to see more of this, especially since it is almost like historical fiction. There aren't too many stories about the amazons and I would like to see where your imagination takes you to fill in the gaps of the Amazon's story. Great write and please post more up so I can read more!
