Something so Precious

The last thing in this world I would give up, after I had lost my possessions, after everyone around me was gone, after I had lost my self, would be my memories. 1

Memories that fill my mind, that keep me from forgetting myself. Memories that remind me of the good, and others that burden me with the bad. Memories, that have collected so much over time, that they have become so precious to me that I value them more them myself, for they are what makes me “myself”. 2

Because of my memories, do I sit here with friends and laugh. The only reason linking me to those around me, to everything that surrounds me is the memories I’ve made, and will make. 3

I would—will—not give away my memories, no matter what I have to let go of!

    Good. :)

    Very reasonable.

One little thing I noticed though: the word "makes" (last line, 2nd paragraph) should be make.

    Very reasonable.

    Thanks for entering.
