Epithany chapter one part three

Simeon heard there laughter the moment he closed his eyes. In seconds he was consumed in a mystic slumber.1

He felt a nudge at his side and suddenly his eyes where open. He was surrounded by children, their faces unknown to him. Smirks were present on their faces. Some were laughing hysterically. Simeon felt the nudge at his shoulder again. He lifted his head to find that he was lying face down on a wooden desk. "Simeon!" said a female voice. Simeon turned his head, suddenly astounded by how beautiful the girl was before him. She had glossy black hair that displayed a reflection unfamiliar to Simeon. He touched his hands against his face surprised to feel the absence of his deep wrinkles. He felt strange as if he was some caterpillar that just broke through it's crysallysis slowly flapping his wings.2

"You blacked out again" the girl suddenly said.3

Simeon glanced at her confused.4

"Who are you?" he asked.5

The girl laughed "You're kidding right Sim".6

When she saw his blank stare she rolled her eyes and turned back in her chair. Simeon then noticed a tall middle aged man standing over him. "Simeon if you need to sleep you should try the nurses office".7

Simeon smiled "Thank you, I'm not sure I'm feeling too well", Simeon said beginning to stand. The tall man's eyes grew dark and in seconds a book was flying towards Simeon's desk nearly splintering the neatly polished wood.8

"This is a class room Mr. Satures- and more so it's my class room. Do you understand. Now quit sleeping in my class and turn to page seventy-three and read the first paragraph!". Simeon tried not to look at the kids laughing at him. He could feel his face turning read as he fumbled through the book before him looking for- what was the page again?9

The girl suddenly reached across his desk turning two more pages until it numbered page seventy-three she pointed a delicate finger on the section he was supposed to read.10

"Thank you" I whispered.11

She smiled. "Next time you want to pull a move like that in Mr. Ryan's class, think twice Simeon".12

He tried not to look into her eyes. He didn't know why but it didn't feel right. He kept his eyes on the pages and began to read.13

It wasn't until twenty-seven minutes later that Simeon was startled to life by a raging bell. Everyone around Simeon rose to their feet pushing their way through the small narrow door.14

Simeon kept his eyes mesmerized within the swimming lines of the maple. He felt a hand upon his straightened jaw pulling his face towards it's owner. It was the girl, piercing me with her ink stained eyes. Next to her was a thin boy with brown curls that bounced about with every twitch of the neck.15

"Isabella", she said pointing to herself. "And this is John", she said pointing to the boy. She ruffled Simeon's blonde hair. "What's with you today, you act like you don't even remember us" she said.16

The boy laughed holding his hand out to Simeon. "Man that was classic, I thought Mr. Ryan was going to kill you". He said laughing.17

Simeon stared at his hand unsure of what to do.18

Isabella rested her hand on his shoulder. "Sometimes I worry about you Sim" she said shaking her head. He smiled at the feel of her touch.19

They had begun walking, Simeon following slowly behind.20

"Where are we going?" he asked.21

The boy looked over his shoulder "It's the end of the day Sim, where do you think we're going"22

"Don't be mean" Isabella said falling in line with Simeon. "Come on keep up".It's Friday night and we're going to your house to hang since it's the closest- remember".23

Simeon smiled. "It might sound strange, he began... but I don't remember a thing".24

John laughed. "It's not like this is the first time this has happened Bell. He'll be fine tomorrow, but for know I'm ready to kick back and relax at your place weather you remember giving the okay or not. It's friday night!" he said busting through the doors of the school into the musty stench of the outdoors.25

Isabella smiled grabbing Simeon's hand and dragging him outside. 26

"Only five more weeks until break" she yelled receiving hollars and hoots from other kids passing by.27

"Thank God", John said. "Tenth grade is such a drag".28

Simeon looked at his hands feeling the rough rounded tone of muscle.29

"How old am I", he asked receiving quizzical looks from both Isabella and John.30

"Your fifteen" he said. "Your birthday is two moths from know. Man you really don't remember a thing. You should really get that checked or something. Did you tell your parents?"31

Simeon's head jerked up a smile creasing across his face.32

"What did you say?".33

"Parents.... the people who take care of you. Mom.... Dad any of that ring a bell"34

Simeon tried hard but he couldn't recall a single moment where he had ever seen his mother or father. He couldn't remember, no matter how hard he tried. Anything prior to this moment was non existent to him. He walked with a quickness behind Isabella and John on a straight path to the house that was unknown to him, but his none the less.
After walking for about fifteen minutes they stopped in front of a clean cut lawn.35

"Well here it is", Isabella announced presenting a large colonial looking building that seemed worn down from years of rain and other natural elements.36

Simeon breathed in the cool mid-noon air feeling a new essence upon him- happiness.37

"Home" he breathed.

Author notes

It may be a little confusing to understand but basically he believes he is dreaming when he is really reliving a part of his past. This will happen often throughout the story.

I'm not sure if I'm done with this one.

    Good

You switched from 3rd person to 1st person -- It jarred -- you might want to fix that sooner than later.

You have a very nice knack of knowing how to make a good stopping point a place of transition, the setting up of your reader for the next chapter.

Glad you had him (Simeon) befuddled in this world too, that had charm to it and gave it a distinct feeling of maybe not dream maybe a something a someplace else altogether...I like Simeon more and more, and Isabella and John too.
