With the Wind Comes Death

She looked back at him from the window, wide eyed, but calm.1

"It's very windy tonight," she said in an almost whisper. "Maybe you should stay away from the windows."2

With that she walked past him and went down the stairs into the first floor guest room that she had made hers.3

He that there for a moment, thinking, then decided to sit and read for awhile.4

He grabbed a book off the shelf and began reading.5

A short while after he heard a small scratching sound at the window.6

He looked, but saw nothing. So he continued with his book.7

Minutes later he looked up and was startled to see a young girl staring at him, in the tree right outside the window. 8

She looked harmless and slightly distressed so he went over to see what she might be doing in his tree.9

As he opened the window he noticed at rope around the girls neck.10

"What are you doing?" he asked.11

She smiled at him, but it was a horrible smile, the kind that haunts.12

"Take my hand," she said.13

He thought for a moment, then reached out his hand towards her.14

She grabbed onto it and pulled him forward towards her.15

His eyes filled with fear as he tried to regain his balance, but her grip was too strong and she had the strength not of a normal little girl.16

Then she stood up on the branch, still holding his hand, and jumped. She fell pulling him with her.17

As the rope caught her body her grip loosened sending him hurling into the ground.18

She looked out her window and saw a pair of feet dangling at the top of her view.19

She sighed and shook her head. 20

"I told him to stay away from the windows."21
