"Vence, it's cold," I whispered, shivering at his side. He looked around the camp, picking up my jacket from a tree branch. "Here," he murmured, slipping it around my shoulders. I turned my face to the sky, feeling a small snowflake hit the tip of my nose. The thought of snow in a really cold place made my spine stiffen. "Are you alright?" He asked, his lips inches from my throat. I nodded, smiling. "Perfect. Where's Jay?" I raised a brow, casting my gaze to the fire pit, where everyone but us and Jay were sitting. "I think he's getting food. Just sit by the flames." He touched my shoulders, making my gasp. Flashes of his eyes brought my knees down. "Woah, I got ya," Vence wrapped his arms around my waist tightly, making sure I didn't hit the ground. "OK . . . Thanks."1
"Hey, Jay's back!" CC chimed, trying to lighten the mood. Everyone was silent, just staring at the flames. The cold skinned creatures of the night stayed far from me, making sure I didn't get frost bite. Vence was by my feet, fixing the fire to make it bigger. "Yes, I am. What's wrong with everyone?" Jay inquired, settling that largest dead pig I've ever seen. "What the hell!" I squealed, falling off the log. "It's a boar, ya know, wild pig?"
"I thought that was just a Deli name!" I whined, forgetting everything I learned in school. Vence chuckled, brushing his frozen fingers over my bangs. I stared at the white pig's eyes, gulping quietly. They reminded me of the wolf's eyes, after Vence's hand drove straight through it.2
Fortunately, I had taken a liking for the boar's head meat. It made my stomach a little queasy, though. "Alright, we need to find shelter, a blizzard's coming." Jay got up, dusting his hands off. "So? We'd make it right through-" Alex stopped in realization. I became sulky, for I didn't stand the could. Vence sensed my despair and hissed lightly to Alex. "Aries, common." My body tensed as I took his hand, following him deeper into the woods.3
He made me lean against a tree with little snow, while he stood in-front of me, looking to his shoes. "Are you afraid, of what happened yesterday?" He questioned, looking into my eyes. I brought my hands to my heart, blinking a few times. "Yes . . . I was scared of losing you, to that side of you. It did scare me . . . A lot." I hugged myself, making sure no to show any tears, even if they were bubbling inside me. "That was my protective side . . . My real Vampire side. Ari . . . You know I'd never hurt you, right?"
"It's not that. I know I won't get hurt, but you guys might! Worrying constantly about my health, is going to get you all killed!" I sobbed, covering my face with my hands. Vence stood still, getting everything register through his head. I just kept crying, for the pain was too much. I've kept things bottled up for so long, that it was tearing everything up. Vence, my sweet love. He wouldn't pay attention to himself, as long as I was in the picture. The same thing with the rest of the family. They don't care what happens to them, but I do!4
"Aries . . ." Vence's arms made their way around my shoulders, then he squeezed us together, his lips pressed against my forehead. I turned my hand over, gripping his shirt as much as I could. "Ari, we know how much you care, but Ari, we're immortal. Almost nothing can beat us." I buried my face into his chest. "That's just it," I mumbled, "those little details could be your downfall!" His grip on me loosened slightly, just before his pale lips pecked my throat. "No, it won't. Stop thinking like that, Ari. We won't die, and either will you. If you do die, then I shall follow, although, I doubt we'll both end up in the same place." I gasped, pulling my face back to look at him. "D-don't you dare say that! We'll always be together! A-always!" I managed to speak through my labored breath. "So you wish it, so it shall be," Vence smiled, running a hand through my hair. 5
* Mountains *
A dark figure sat upon it's throne, tapping it's sharp claws against the stone chair. The blond Vampire, Estance, waited patiently, desiring for information. "Bring it in!" A female voice commanded, slamming her fist against the arm rest. Estance clapped his hands twice, before Darian came inside the large room, holding a glass orbs in both hands, his I-POD dangling from his hip. "Here it is, Master." He brought it up the stairs, handing the glowing orb to the shadowed figure. She took the orb, watching the two figures that began to appear. It was little Aries, and her mate, Vence. A pair of red lips turned into a smirk, just as the orb leveled into the air on it's own. From what Darian could see, the glow created some possible detail in the womanly Master. She had blood red lips, pale skin, and midnight hair, which cascaded down her shoulders. "Your Wolves failed me, Estance. Maybe you should send Bullit and Darian?" She suggested.6
Estance bowed respectively, walking away with his smart partner, who had his I-POD now in his hand, it's usual spot. "Who is she, anyways?" Darian questioned, turning down the volume blasting from the earbuds. "I'm not premitted to tell, although, she does strike as an odd character. By the personality acting, she seems to want to cause Vence grief, from Aries's death." Estance opened a huge double door set, barely slowing as snow pounded against their bodies. "Bullit! Let's go!" Estance shouted, waiting for the hard-head, so he can give instructions. 7
* Lower Hills *
My lips pressed against one-another in thought. There were two different trails, and one of them had to lead to an Inn or something. So Jay and the others tried to sniff out the scents, but failed, because snow covered the area, erasing all tracks. "What hand do you guys write with?" I questioned, tilting my head. They all stared at me in curiosity. "Right," they answered in unison. I nodded to the left, and began walking. They stared at each other dumbly, but shrugged their shoulders, following my non-logic. 8
"Whadda know! Ari was right!" Alex yelled, speeding ahead of the others. We blinked a few times, laughing afterwards. "Go!" I called, watching as they all ran. Vence waited until I was on his back, before bolting up beside them. I stuck my tongue out at Z, just before Vence paused next to Alex, making us the winners . . . Kinda. "Ha ha!" I laughed, pointing at Justin's sour face. He turned his head tot he side, just in time to get nailed by a snowball. "Thanks BB!"
