Broken Hope - Chapter 1 1

"Mummy what's going on?" I cried. "Look baby girl. Run to your room and don't look back. Everything is going to be alright." She said. She tried to smile so I wouldn't be frightened, But it didn't work. I was completely terrified.2

Then I saw my dad come around the corner. In one hand he clutched a metal bat. With piercing eyes, he targeted me. My mum pushed me out the way. She turned her head knowing she was going to die. Tears streamed down her checks. The strong golden metal bat hit her in the head as she gasped for air. My heart was pounding with fear. 3

I ran up the stairs and tripped on the way. I ran to my room and hid in my closet. I tried covering my mouth to stop my whimpering. I heard my dad's feet going up the stairs. 4

The closet door was cracked open. I grabbed hold of a teddy bear and squeezed it against my chest. I saw my father walk into my room. He moved closer to my5

closet. I see dark coloured red blood drop down slowly onto the hard wooden floor.6

"Rose, where are you'? He let out a dark loud laugh that filled the room with darkness and sent chills down my spine.7

The door was pushed open. My head was spinning. I shut my eyes knowing this was the end for me. "Is this the way I die?" "I'm going to fight back." I whispered to myself. I crept further into the closet and searched for my black guitar. I found it and made a firm grip. My breathing became heavier. Palms became sweaty. I walked towards the door again. I peeked out to see where he was. I see my fathers blood shot eyes staring into mine.8

"Ah, there you are Rose" He laughed his dark evil laugh. He grabbed my black shoulder length hair and dragged me out of the closet.9

"Stop it!" I yelled. I tried slapping him so he would release me. He tried picking me up. I grabbed his face and dug my long finger nails into his skin. His face was dripping with blood. He screamed10

in pain.11

"You bitch!" He yelled. He picked me up and threw me on the bed and got on top of me. 12

"Please stop," I pleaded. Tears streaming down my face.” Your a cruel man" I said still crying. "Go to hell." He said as he slapped my face. I cried even more.13

"God help me". I whispered to myself. As I turn my head and see my older brother, Sean walk into my room. He ran to my father and started punching him in his back. My father turned around and pushed Sean to the floor. He threw the bat on the floor and pulled out a gun from his pants.14

"NO!" I screamed. I pushed my father off of me and ran to my brother. I pushed him out the way and the gun went off. I looked down and put my hand to my stomach. I then looked at my hand which were now covered in blood. My legs weakened. My eyes felt heavy. I started to fall. Sean caught me and put me gently to the floor and held my head up. 15

"Please, Rose you have to stay awake" He cried. He looked at16

my father. "Look what you've done." He said angrily. Sean took his mobile out of his pocket and dialed 000. 17

" Hello 000? Help! My sister is on the floor bleeding. She's been shot."18

"Sean" I hesitated. " What does heaven look like?" 19

" I bet its as beautiful as you" He smiled. I giggled20

" Ahh, It hurts" I screamed21

" Don't worry Rose help is on the way." I started to close my eyes.22

" Sean?" I said.23

"Yea" 24

" I wonder how it feels to die." 25

The ambulance rushed into the room with great haste, as he was running up they saw a man running down with a boy chasing after him yelling “Stop you asshole!”, he kept running up the stairs. 28

As he saw me lay on the floor bleeding, he rushed to me. “Can you see me?” The ambulance guy said. His name was Brian. “Yes, I see you” I said. As I looked up at him I saw that he had short curly blonde hair with green eyes with a tanned complexion about 16 years of age, I thought he was quite cute. Another man rushed into the room with an ambulance bed. They laid the bed on the floor. Brian picked me up carefully and put me on the bed and then they both carried me outside. 29

The sun was bright and stung my eyes, so I closed them. I felt a hand hold mine, I squeezed my eyes open a little to try and see the face of the person holding my hand, but it was too blurry. So I just closed my eyes again, and then it was all black. 30

The next time I woke up I was in the hospital, I felt a sharp pain in my stomach so I looked at it quickly and saw that it was sewed up and that it was fine, but it still hurt. Sean was next to me crying his eyes out. 33

“Sean, what are you crying about?” I said, it came out in a whisper, but he still heard me. He stopped crying and sniffled, then looked at me. 34

“Rose! Your alive….” He said. 35

“Of course I’m alive… silly.”36

The child people came and took them from the hospital and put them in a adoption center.37

The Newspaper the next day on the first page said “ Killer Father Put In Jail”38

I quickly looked away.39

One month later….40

A lady and man came in, she was 48 years old and he was 50 years old. Woman named Carol, and the man named Jack.41

Carol had brown shoulder length straight hair with brown eyes and a tanned complexion.42

Jack had short curly blonde hair with green eyes. I thought he looked a little bit like Brian. He was tanned and had a tattoo on his shoulder with a cross on it, underneath it, it said “God save me.”43

Then as if I was dreaming Brian walked in. 44

“Hey Brian.” Carol said.45

“Hi mum.” Said Brian.46

“Hello Rose and Sean, I am Carol and this is Jack and Brian. We are hoping that we can adopt you, if that’s alright with you two?”47

Brian looked at us and saw that I was that girl he has helped a month beforehand. 48

I answered shyly “I don’t mind, do you Sean?”49

“No, I don’t mind…” 50

“Then it’s settled, you can come and live with us” Carol said.51

We hopped into a Red Sedan car and went on a long car ride, we both fell asleep.52

I woke up in a nice, soft red bed about queen sized. I yawned and stretched my arms out so I could try and wake up a little bit. 55

Brian walked in, 56

*“Good morning sleepyhead” 57

**“ha-ha… good morning Brian”58

*“how did you sleep?”59

** “Like a rock.. Ha-ha… could you please tell me where the bathroom is, I need to wash my face”60

* “Ha-ha, sure. Follow me.”61

He showed me to the bathroom and I washed my face.62

** “Thank-you Brian” I blushed.63

* “Ha-ha no problem”64

I could start to see his cheeks turn pink but he quickly turned his face the other way in embarrassment.65

I said I would like to have a shower so he left the room. I got undressed and hopped into the shower. I turned on the tap, and steadied the temperature. I got the soap onto a sponge and washed my body. I then rinsed off the soap. I got the shampoo and conditioner and put it in my hair then rinsed it out. I then got out of the shower and turned off the water. I dried myself and got dressed, I put on a white t-shirt and some denim jeans. I got out of the bathroom and went into my room to find a brush but got called down to the kitchen to meet the rest of the family.66

“Oh, hello Rose” Carol said.67

“Hi” 68

“How was your sleep?”69

“delightful”70

“Charming, ok.. It’s time to meet the rest of the family.”71

From the looks of things there were 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.. 6 others, excluding Me and Sean.72

“Ok, this is John” Carol said.73

“Hello John, pleased to meet you.” I said.74

I looked at John and saw that he had red hair with blue eyes, he looked about 10 years of age. He had a white complexion and was very polite.75

“Pleased to meet you too” John said.76

“Ok, this is Natalie” Carol said.77

“Pleased to meet you Natalie”78

Natalie had golden brown hair with blonde streaks, she had baby green eyes and was about 7 years of age. She was very tall, and had a tanned complexion. She was also very polite.79

“It is delectable to meet you”80

Of course I had no idea what that meant but I’m sure it was nice.81

“Ok, this is Sandy” Carol said.82

“Hi Sandy”83

“Hello”84

“it’s nice to meet you”85

“and yourself”86

She had black hair and dark brown eyes, She was 19 years old and she had pale white skin.. and I thought she looked sick, but it was that she spent all day in her room and barely ever went into the sun except for when they were walking to the car, walking into the school building. Even at recess and Lunch she sat in the shade.87

“Ok, this is Brian”88

“I have already met her” Brian said to his mother.89

“Oh, is this that girl that…” Her voice trailed off.90

“yes” was all Brian could say.91

“well, we met.. But not properly, hello Brian, pleased to of met you”92

“Pleased to of met you too, if only we didn’t meet the way we did.”93

All I could think of saying was yeah, so I did. “Yeah”94

There was an uncomfortable silence.95

“Well.. There are two more people to meet, they are only 3 years old and are twins.. We rescued them from a foster home at only two years old. This one is named Bill, and this…. This is Ripper. You will find out why soon enough.”96

Bill had baby blue eyes and looked like a browny Blondy type of coloured hair.97

Ripper on the other hand had brown eyes and black hair and scars up his right cheek.98

“Why does ripper have scars up his right cheek..”99

There was another uncomfortable silence.100

Carol looked at her watch and saw how late it was getting……101
