Dear Diary, 1
The first day of tenth grade wasn't that bad. I managed to make it through the whole day without falling into a garbage can, getting my pants caught in someone else's locker, or spilling ketchup on my pants. Not like that has happened before *cough, cough*. Except for the fact that Joseph Jonas is in practically all my classes, again. I think he secretly pays the school to put us in the same classes just to bug me. Seriously, he stalks me.... 2
I looked up at the number on the door and back at my schedule. Yup this is the right room, A376. I opened the door and walked in. The room was pretty empty but I didn't really care. This meant I got to pick whatever seat I wanted. I picked a desk towards the center of the room. Soon more people started to come in. No sign of Joe yet. Maybe he won't be in any of my classes this year! I saw my best friend Lauren and waved her over. "Hey Kay!" Kay was short for Kaileen. Lauren said. "Hey Lauren!" I said "Guess what!" "Wha-" but before she could finish she was cut off my someone singing "I'M HERE!" at the top of their lungs. We turned to see who it was, and sure enough there was Joseph Jonas with his arms spread out like he was some kind of opera singer. After seeing that it was just Joe we turned back to talking. "So what were you talking about?" Lauren asked "I was going to say it looked like Joe wasn't going to be in my class this year but I think I spoke too soon." I said while sighing "I don't get why you don't like him." Lauren said "Have you gone blind?!" I asked seriously concerned for my friend's mental health. "No, but he's changed since sixth grade. Every girl can see that except you." "ummmm... no he hasn't. He's the same obnoxious freak as he was in sixth grade." "I'm not talking about his behaviour!" Lauren said exasperatidly "ewwww.... You're not talking about what I think you're talking about are you?" I said extremely disgusted. "Yes I am. Look at him, don't you think he's cute at all?" she asked "I think you need to go see a doctor!" I said She sighed and shook her head. "Sometimes you're so immature it makes me think that you and Joe are made for each other." I pushed her and she just laughed at me.3

School is now offically in full swing. Homework, tests, quizzes and all that fun stuff. Besides that it is actually turning out to be a pretty good year so far. I think Joe may have actually learned to read this year and for some reason he doesn't annoy me that much anymore. He doesn't attempt to cut my hair with a spoon from the cafeteria. He doesn't poke me half as much as he used to. And he doesn't attack me with little pieces of paper in class. Sure he's still the class clown but he doesn't seem to bother me that much anymore. But the weirdest thing was, the other day, when he accidently knocked my books down he actually helped me pick them up. He was actually being sort of nice. Wait, this is Joseph Jonas we're talking about, never mind.....5
I walked into English to find Joe hiding behind the open door. 6
"What are you doing?" I asked 7
"Hiding, duh" he said.8
"From what your reflection?" At this the whole class went "Ooowned!"9
Joe looked a little hurt but he brushed that off and went returned to hiding. It turns out he was trying to scare people by jumping out at them before they walked in. I felt a little guilty for what I had said but for what he has put me through for the past four years I thought he deserved it. During lunch Lauren was bugging me about Joe.10
"I think he likes you." she said. 11
"No he doesn't! Why would you think of something so ridiculous," I said.12
"Well one he's staring at you, two he hasn't been annoying you as much, you even said so yourself, and three he's coming this way," she said.13
I turned quickly and yup, Joe was walking towards our table with his lunch. He sat down and started eating like he was part of our table. I just stared at him in disbelief.14
"Ummm.." was all I managed to get out 15
"What?" he said "Why are you sitting with us?" I asked 16
"I can't sit with some old friends?" he asked. I just muttered and went on eating. Lauren gave me a smirk and we ate in silence for the rest of lunch. After lunch we walked out of the cafeteria and all of the sudden Joe made this weird face and pointed at something on the ceiling. I looked up. There was nothing.17
"What are you looking at?" I said turning my head from side to side. When I heard Lauren laughing I knew what he had done. I grumbled and went on walking. And to think, I actually thought he was different this year.18
Dear Diary,19
You know how I said this year wasn't so bad? Well it turns out that I'm WRONG! My school being the freak school it is has decided to make swim classes co-ed. Why? Because they think the swim unit is too long. What a lame excuse. That's not even the bad part. Just guess who's in my gym class......20
The next few weeks were pretty normal. Well as normal as it can be with Joseph Jonas in all your classes. One day I walked into gym class and the teacher, Mr. Ditch, announced that the swim unit was starting soon. He said that all the gym teachers had decided in order to cut the time spent on the swim unit in half they were going to have co-ed classses from now on. All the girls grumbled and the guys looked thrilled. Ughhh what pervs.21
The next gym class we were in the pool. Joe was pushing innocent by standards into the pool. Mr. Ditch didn't really care, since Joe was the star of the school's cross country team. I quickly slid into the pool before he had a chance to push me in. Mr. Ditch made us do a couple laps then he seperated us into three different groups. Those who could swim really well, those who could swim but weren't really good, and those who couldn't swim at all. He didn't actually call them that though; he called them groups 1, 2, and 3. I was put in the group that could swim really well because I actually could do laps and dive off the blocks. Joe was put in that group too, mainly because he could do any sport he tried. I think we were probably the best swimmers in the class.22
Next Mr. Ditch wanted two volunteers to demonstrate how a race worked. Joe, being the show off his is, raised his hand immediatly. I think he was the only one. Of course he was picked. Mr. Ditch, for some reason that I could not comprehend, wanted a girl volunteer. I stood in the back of the crowd trying to avoid eye contact with him.23
"Come on girls, doesn't anyone want to race Joseph?" he asked. None of us volunteered.24
"If none of you volunteer I'll pick." he said. There was a quick round of whispers but still no one budged.25
"Fine, Kaileen you're going. Up on to the block." he said. All the other girls took a sigh of relief.26
Wait, did he just say my name? Yeah I think he did. GRRRRR.. I don't want to swim in front of the whole class. I hate doing things in front of a group. Why in the world would he pick me? 27
"Ummm maybe because you're one of the best swimmers in the class." my lovely second voice reminded me. I made a face and hopped up on the block.28
"Alright, Joseph and Kaileen. You guys will be doing a 50 Freestyle. That's down and back." Mr. Ditch said.29
"You're going down Kay." Joe whispered.30
"Oh you wish" I retorted.31
"Take your mark!" Mr. Ditch yelled. We both bent over and grabbed our blocks."GO!"32
And we were off. I dove into the water embracing the cold. I streamlined underwater while kicking as hard and as fast as possible. When I broke to the surface I began to take the fastest and most efficent strokes I could. I forced myself not to take a breath, knowing that if I did it would only slow me down. Before I knew it I was at the wall. I quickly did a flip turn and pushed off the wall with all my strength. At this point my arms and legs were burning but I didn't care. It was like some weird competive demon had taken over my body. Wait since when did I care about sports? I thought to myself. I quickly brushed the notion out of my head and snapped back into the race. I was at the point to where my lungs felt like they were going to impload, but I could almost taste the victory. I saw the T marked on the bottom of the pool and drove my arm into the wall. As soon as I touched the wall I turned around to the lane next to me. Only to see Joe drive into the wall a split second too late. I smiled to myself, that will show him.33
whooo! Go Kay!34
Who doesn't love swimming? :]]35
