Mortay and Sean talked for almost three hours before Mistress Sabrine came into the room announcing that the evening meal was to be served soon. “You may join us if you wish Your Highness, if you wish that is.” Sean bowed his head solemnly, “Unfortunately, I was due home more then a whole candlestick ago but I am grateful for your invitation all the same. Now I must be off. Thank you for the wonderful debate Miss Mortay. I hope to be back soon.” He said with a slight bow, and then he turned to Mistress Sabrine and did the same and left briskly. The two women watched him leave down the stairs and then starred out the window as he mounted his horse and rode off with two bored looking guards in tow. 3

At mealtime Mistress Sabrine brought up the days events with her husband.4

“He does seem like a nice man. Much better then his older brothers might I tell you. I do think though that next time he calls you should have one of your sisters or a servant accompany you in the drawing room. The Help is already gossiping about the goings on today. Also may we all hope that his parents understand his being late. Although I very well understand, Mortay is a joy to debate with and is cunning beyond belief.” Oswyn stated smiling sweetly at his eldest daughter. Mortay grinned back with pride and continued eating her meal. 5
