Musings of a Mere Mortal

Before I start, I just want to say that this is all theoretical. I came up with everything on my own with no research – besides the definition. The theory I came up with is very difficult to talk about because there is no way to fully understand it. I know that what you will read is full of holes and unfinished ideas, but it is just meant to get you thinking, nothing more.1

Time2

- The system of those sequential relations that any event has to any other, as in past, present, or future
- Indefinite and continuous duration regarded as that in which events succeed one another
- A limited period or interval, as between two successive events3

What if.4

What if time, as defined above, did not exist in heaven? Not an infinite amount of time or a fraction of time or anything to that effect. No time. It simply doesn’t exist. It is entirely possible. It is stated in the Bible that God himself is outside of time so will that in turn apply to his heavenly realm as well? This is a question that I have been pondering for some time and I decided that I would try documenting my thoughts on this subject. Now, understandably, we will never be able to fully comprehend this theory of “no time”. But we can try.5

The first “law” I explored was the “sequential relations that any event has to any other”.
If this law was removed that would mean that events would have no relationship to each other. They would happen spontaneously. Seemingly at random – in our eyes at least. This would happen because there is nothing to govern the sequence of events. There would be no order to the events.6

Now, from this statement, the possibilities are endless, and for those with hyperactive imaginations, I’m sure your mind is already spinning. So lets expand on the previous idea. Since there is no law to dictate the sequence of events, will we ourselves be able to control them? Will we be able to control when or if we experience events?7

If there were no “time”, how would we travel? To travel from here to there requires time. If we were to remove time would we just.. “teleport”? Just POP! You’re there as fast as you can think it?8

Omnipresent, all knowing God. It makes sense now. If what I just theorized is even remotely true, it is entirely possible for someone to be everywhere. If one is outside of time then one can be anywhere and everywhere in a time related universe. Its like you see in the movies sometimes. For some reason, someone slows down time to the point where nothing else is moving and to an observers eyes, it looks like that person is in fast forward or something. That’s only a glimpse of what it could be like, except that.. there wouldn’t be time.9

Another way to look at traveling without time is teleporting. If someone teleports from one location to another, it happens almost instantaneously. But I really don’t know where I’m going with that..10

Ok, I just thought up an idea. Lets say that time is like a circle and around the circle are dots and each of the dots is an event in time. Now, with your finger, you can touch any one of those events- your finger being you. Now, lets use the traveling theory I talked about. Place your hand over the circle. Now you are at all of those events. You are now longer bound by time so you are everywhere. Not the best example I know. But it works.11

Decay. Assuming we keep our bodies, another theory that is in strong debate but I will use it none the less. Now, decay is something that is also bound by time. As you get older you grow, lose hair, lose skin, get gray hair, get aches and pains, wear and tear, die, and finally decay. More or less. If time were removed, we would no longer have any of those issues. For all intents and purposes, you would be frozen in time. Well, that is the best description anyways. So this brings me to another topic that I am almost scared to even think about. Hell.12

What if time doesn’t exist in hell? Since I am already making the assumption that it doesn’t exist it heaven I must assume the same goes for hell. Now, hell is commonly associated with fire, and in the bible and makes reference to a lake of fire. What does fire do when it burns something? It creates decay. But I just stated that decay cannot exist without time. What does this leave you with? Fuel that cannot burn, and a fire that does not go out. Imagine, a fire burning on your flesh that will now go out..

Author notes

As a stated in the beginning, I did not research any of this. I just started typing off the top of my head. Try not to be to harsh in the comments lol
