The most amazing summer of my life was finally coming to an end. This has been a bittersweet summer for me. What had started out as the most horrible summer in the history of summers ended up being something more then a dream. It was the last day of summer. Tomorrow would be the first day of school. The first day as a freshman. I curled up in my chair and stared out my window. Later tonight my family was planning to go to the park with the Jonas's for a last day of summer thing. I sighed and took in everything that had happened this summer. I pinched myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. 1

"Gracie! Come on we want to go before it gets dark!" my brother yelled. 2

"One second!" I was getting my hoodie. It was starting to get cold now that Fall was coming. 3

"Trying to look all pretty for you boyfriend?" he called from the bottom of the stairs. 4

"Shut up," I pushed him on my way down. I walked over to the Jonases. I was going to go over to the park with them. 5

"Hey Nick" I said 6

"Hi Grace" 7

"I can't believe this summer I've had! It's crazy!" I said 8

"Yeah I know what you mean" he said staring right into my eyes. Which sent a familar yet unfamilar burst of energy into my body. 9

"You have no idea" I said 10

"Come on kids!" I heard Mrs. Jonas calling us. 11

"Let's go!" I slipped my hand into Nick's and we started walking to the park behind the rest of everyone. 12

When we got there my family and the Jonases picked a table by the lake. I was the only girl again, but by now I was used to it. I attempted playing football with the guys but quite when Frankie was able to tackle me and score a touchdown. It's pathetic to watch a five year old boy kick your butt. So instead I watched them Frankie was being really bossy. He called all these huddles. I think he thought he was in charge or something.13

Finally our parents told us to come eat dinner. After dinner Kevin, Joe, Frankie and my brother went down to the boardwalk to get some icecream for everyone. Nick grabbed my hand and took me to the bench by the lake. 14

"Can you believe it! We'll be freshman tomorrow!" he said 15

"Yeah I know." I had been dreading this moment for the whole summer. 16

"I want to go back to middle school. Where everything is so much easier. So much less complicated." I said 17

"Hey don't worry we're going to alright." He whispered in my ear and I believed him. "Don't forget what I promised you at the beginning of the summer. I'll be there with you. I'll always be there." 18

Nick has a way with words like no one else has. 19

"Okay Nick" I put my head on his shoulder and he put his strong arm around me. I lifted my head up and looked into his eyes. 20

"Nick?" 21

"Yeah?" he said staring back. I felt at home. 22

"I love you." 23

"I love you too." He said back and he brushed his lips gently against my cheek. 24

We watched the sun melt into the lake. Until Jason and Joe came over and pushed us off the bench. We jumped up and started running after them. I jumped on Joe and takled him onto the ground. Then Kevin. Frankie, Nick and my brother jumped on top of us it was one huge doggie pile. I rolled over laughing. I felt like my ribs were going to crack I was laughing so hard. This summer was definatly a start of a new chapter in my life.25
