Ace Combat fanfiction - Disrupt - Act 1, Scene 1: The Belkan Situation

SETTING: Zvenmanov Yuktobanian Air Force Base; a concealed location on the coast of Yuktobania.1

[An exhausted pilot is asleep against the wall of his holding cell. A scar runs from above his right eyebrow, across his face, and down to the left side of his neck. He has been waiting for a guard for close to six hours. His uniform consists of a black flight suit with white trim, white flight gloves, and white laces on his well-shined black leather combat boots. He exhibits quick combat reflexes upon hearing someone's approach.]2

[Enter STÁRSHIY LEYTENÁNT (Junior Lieutenant) NIKO.]3

NIKO: I apologize that you haven't been seen to yet.4

PILOT: I understand. Patience is a virtue.5

NIKO: ...I'm sorry, I didn't hear an ending to that sentence. May I ask you to correct your statement?6

PILOT: [He hesitates.] ...Sir.7

NIKO: Good. I don't want any hesitation next time, young sir. Am I understood?8

[The PILOT gives no response.]9

NIKO: [kneels in front of the Belkan, who evades eye contact] I asked you a question, Comrade.10

[The PILOT still gives no answer.]11

NIKO: [With his hand under the PILOT's chin, lifts the PILOT's head to force eye contact] What's your name?12

PILOT: Oberleutnant Indie Czar.13

NIKO: [Lets go of the pilot, now identifiable as CZAR.] How ironic, Comrade. A Yuktobanian surname.14

CZAR: I'm not a Yuke, and I'm not your comrade.15

NIKO: [Backhands the PILOT across the side of his face.]16

CZAR: [Cringes, instinctively pulling on the handcuffs to try to cover his stinging scar.]17

NIKO: You are the prisoner here, young Belkan. You aren't free in my country. I own you now, what I say goes. From here on out, you may consider yourself a Yuktobanian.18

[NIKO exits, the scene following him. Two FIELD MEDICS are outside the secure door. They salute him.]19

FIELD MEDIC 1: Stárshiy Leytenánt! [NIKO returns the salute and they drop their arms.] Anything we need to work on, sir?20

NIKO: (thoughtfully) He looked ill. I'm not sure what of. Influenza, perhaps...but I do not claim to be anything near a medic. Take good care of this one, though...he is a very unique pilot.21

FIELD MEDIC 2: You can count on us, sir.22

NIKO: I know.23

[Exit NIKO; end scene.]
