Now, you 'normal' people most likely have no clue what the hell the Clown Feet are. The Clown Feet is an easy game. You wait for the feet to get all the way back, hit and hold the stopper, and insert coins. The object of the game is to get crappy cheap key chains, chips that can be exchanged for stuffed animals, knives, etc., and more coins. Now if done properly, the pay off rate for this game is 3 goes in 7 come out, or at least it should be, but this is where the game becomes a drug.2
For example: Between the window case and the edge of the shelf is a space of about four inches. Lets say you walk past a particular machine and see a whole fistful of coins hanging off, and you think to yourself: "Just one coin should knock those off". Well, you my friend would be wrong.3
I went today to the local carnival and won myself a monkey. That two dollar, if that, monkey cost my father fifteen dollars. That's 150 coins that we paid for, folks. Through the course of the game we traded in a weird game, one blue chip (the monkey cost three and I had four, with the one traded in I thought I could get two more to get a bigger monkey), a car, a peace sign, and several other small miscellaneous pieces of crap. 4
Now I spent ninety percent of the time at this one machine simply because two blue chips were hanging so far off the edge that they should have fallen down long ago. 5
That's when I figured it out. It hit me like a boulder dropped on your big toe, painfully. Gravity does not apply to carnival games. There had to have been three pounds worth of weight on that coin, but it just floated there. It was outrageous!6
But, alas, next July I will be there for the county fair, cash in hand, simply because I can't stop.

This was cute and fun and TRUE.
Great write.

I'd rather hit up the mall! I did enjoy this and I must admit it was something I would have thought of for a story entry so your creativity was very appreciated. Thank you for entering our contest and good luck!

i personally haven't been to a carnival in quite a while though, so my addiction has not been fed... this piece was quite well written though, it captures the concept nicely
