Teaching-A Sacred Act

Teaching is a hobby not a profession. Teaching is a passion. It doesn’t stop at the Teacher teaching the subject nor does it end at the student grasping it.1

Teaching is much more than that. It transcends all erudite boundaries known to mankind.2

Teaching is an art;it’s a journey not a destination.3

This journey never ends.4

We constantly learn …We consistently teach…5

Teaching encompasses everything including preaching.6

It’s an activity which has a charm to it.7

It’s a service to mankind.8

Teaching is a God promoted activity and not a profession.9

I took to Teaching like a duck takes to water. I have always been mesmerized by Teaching since the day I was in school.10

Teaching hones my skills, chisels my character and makes me a complete person.11

The sublime feeling when your student does good and is successful cannot be traded for any other happiness in this world nor any satisfaction for that matter.12

Teaching is an acorn whence the student grows to the giant oak!13

Teaching has made me learn characteristics within that never came to the fore.14

Of all the known myriad moods Teaching touches all of them,Virtue,Patience,Compassion,Benevolence,etc.15

In all respects the output of Teaching is not good marks,it is a good allround human being, who is successful in everything he does,in terms of morality, honesty and sincerity.16

Teaching is God’s gift.17

Teaching is learnt,imbibed,enhanced and blossomed.18

It cleanses the mind of the recipient and makes him a learned person.19

I like teaching students who are  not good in their studies rather than students who are doing well.20

It might be a different psyche that I display but my motto is simple, and I want to see happiness and satisfaction replete on all my students’ faces.21

My Teaching should not only enhance their persona but it should bring their confidence back and they should be able to move respectfully in their respective realms.22

It is a thought I have always harboured and that which will always remain with me.23

My Teaching will not be simple preaching but something that will be a “take home” for 24

The student.25

Author notes

Teaching has been prevalent since ages..it stems from the Brahminical school of thought ..that a human being goes through Life stages  like 0-17 years he has to study in a "Gurukul"..18-25 he remains a bachelor..25-50 he ties the knot and entwines in worldy matters..and at 51 he along with his partner retires and moves towards God in a more profound way.Gurukul is a school where students serve their Guru or teacher...keep their place clean..hygienic..et al

    loved it

Well, this means a lot to me since I returned back to school eleven years after completing my undergraduate degree. I now have my masters in education. Unfortunately I am not working yet since I need a visa, but I am continuing to work on my Math single subject qualification. I know what you mean about knowing in your bones that this is what you were meant to be doing - my purpose. I received so much joy when I was practice teaching and I miss it terribly. Thank you for your wonderful words.
    God Bless, LB

    Written well indeed.

Written from the heart of a true teacher and I must say you did this very well. I will have to send this to some teachers that I know.

I'm a retired teacher, now still a sub, and this is wonderful. Would love to give it to all first year teachers - give them something to think about. Well written.
