The Diary of the Seeking

I've been waiting for oh, so long. The day has now arrived. Living through it will be my the challenge Will you be the one to accomplice me in my new victory? No, I'll never be the one in those stone hard eyes.1

What I need is a partner, though I'll do it alone. I want glory and all eyes on me. My name on everybody's lips. It will be the death of me. No one shall know who I am. So patiently I've waited, and nobody has watched me thus far.2

Now it shall all change. This day and this time, I feel a bitter vibrant glow. Look up to me while standing there. Ask who this boy is. Is he someone you will ever know? 3

There I stand in the shimmering light, only now to notice that you see. My fame has drawn on you, and I am here, only to realize this is not the time. 4

You love me, now that you see me. Though I can do this on my own. Today was the day, and it was the time. When the light shined on me you would know, and I don't want you this time, not this time anymore. You're too shallow for me.

Author notes

It's about striving to be recognized, but then the realization of what's happened to you.

A contest entry

Am I too vague about this story's point? I want it to have a hazy feel to it, but not have the reader on total disconnect.

  • I thought this was very unique. I did not get it until I read the author's notes. This is very well written and it is great!

  • I didn't really get it until you explained, but then I re-read it and it made more sense. It was a great story. Unfortunately, it was 211 words, which is more than 100. Thanks for entering!
