I wake up every morning
with a big scowl on my face
it never feels out of place!
and you're still probably working
at a 9 to 5 pace
I wonder how bad that tastes3

I stared at Squirrelflight as she trudged dutifully across the clearing over to the deputy, Brambleclaw, who also happens to be the cat that stole her from me. They chatted, then quite suddenly she swung around to stare at me, pity in her eyes. I bared my teeth and looked away.4

Brambleclaw noticed her staring at me, then turned to her and snapped something out viciously. It seems the perfect mate was reprimanding her. Squirrelflight turned away from him and left the clearing, head and tail down. It made me want to purr, seeing her in pain.6

I got up and followed her out into the forest, feeling Brambleclaw's eyes on me the whole way.8

I watched as she padded heavily towards the Windclan border. She sat by the stream and stared into the depths of the water. "Squirrelflight," I sighed as I sat down a couple fox-lengths downstream. She glanced over at me, sadness in her gaze. I hate you, so don't even ask me to come back, 'cause I'm not your rebound. I thought those words to myself, meaning every single one.10

"He's wrong for you, yet you love him. Makes no sense if you ask me, but hey, I'm just the rebound right?" I said bitterly. Squirrelflight winced at my words.12

"That's not fair, Ashfur. I didn't know he would change so drastically when he was made deputy." I snorted at her words, not caring either way.14

"Personally Squirrelflight, I don't care. You still left me for him, so either way, it doesn't really matter." Squirrelflight turned to stare at me, rage smoldering in her eyes.16

"Ashfur, he was very loving and caring. It was better than being overprotective! So I went with the cat with better qualities." She turned back to the stream.18

"Answer me three questions, do you still think he is loving and caring? Don't you think he is a little protective now that he has you? Do you even love him?" I said the last sentence accusingly.20

"No Asfur, I dont, I think I love you more." She stared at me, wondering what my reaction would be. I froze, hate and rage coloring my features.22
