Strange

For years, the idea of a gay person has disturbed many. In recent times, the number of "out" homosexuals has tripled, perhaps quadrupled. And most gay people are accepted. However, the younger people in the gay community are often told the same thing - you're too young. You aren't old enough to decide this. Wait a few years, maybe you'll change your mind.1

Well, we won't change our minds. I can personally say as a 14 year old lesbian, this is not something that came to me overnight. Realizing you are gay can be one of the most disorienting, mind-boggling things a person can go through. But before long, gay people accept themselves, and get other people to accept them as well. 2

This zine is for all the gay kids out there who are sick of being denied. It's time to speak out. It's time to tell the world what you want them to hear. Make them listen. And to all of you who don't believe us, listen to this: we're here, we're queer. Learn to love us.3

Author notes

This is going to be the introduction to the zine I am making for English class.

The title of the zine is Strange. And it was originally designed for a school project, so the first issue is not actually out yet, but I will be posting it online once it becomes more of a reality.

The colors on the background are quite vivid. I had a little trouble reading this. So, what's the title of the zine? Is it online? Anyway, this was an interesting introduction to your zine. It was different because you wrote it factually instead of focusing too much on justifying why. Clear and concise, good job.

Honest and true... I like this. I'm not gay, I'm bisexual. A lot of people don't believe that's possible and that it's something one will grow out of. No matter what they believe, I won't deny me to myself. Great intro.

i agree that gay persons should have equal rights to some extent. this might not be fair for me to comment but i think i should. i don't know if you are religious or not, or if you have some sort of faith, but i was taught growing up that gay is wrong... and blah blah blah... but i have many friends that are gay! their are people in cultures going through genocides and such because of their differences... America really doesn't deny you or me any rights just because we are different! What is it that you mean by it's time to speak? what is there to speak about... people understand that everyone is different! what do you need to make people hear... just curious... i don't mean to be disrectful or rude or judgemental... please comment me back... i'm curious
