Untitled (Chapter 8)

The town looked more beautiful when the dusk came. Julie and Justin walked along the sideways with their bag full with stuff. Julie fixed her backpack that felt really heavy. Justin scoped the road intensely while kept Julie closed to him. 1

“Why you have to walk so close to me like this?” Julie protested and walked further.2

Justin grabbed her hand and dragged her closer. “I just have bad feeling that someone following us.”3

Julie fell in silent; she thought about her father’s bodyguards. Are they here? But then suddenly Justin laughed really hard and Julie flinched.4

“What? You…..shit….” Julie groaned when she realized that Justin was insulted her.5

“God, Julie! You looked terribly afraid!” Justin said between his laughed. “You should see your own face. It was as pail as drunken cow!” 6

“Drunken cow, huh? I never see that one.” Julie tried to stop being irritated with Justin’s act. She walked away and left Justin who still laughed hard. 7

Justin stopped his laugh and stood properly, watched Julie who walked away; clearly mad at him. He grinned and ran after her. He ran toward her and walked beside her. “Hey, take it easy girl. It just a joke, you know? No hurt feeling?” He gave her his hand but Julie ignored him. She threw her face away and walked faster; but still Justin could keep in track. 8

Justin walked faster so now he walked in front of Julie. He turned his body and walked backward. “You look like a monkey when you mad.” He said with a wide grin in his mouth. “You better….” But he stopped and stared blankly at Julie’s back.9

Julie stopped and stared at Justin madly. “What else? Now you want to say that there’s a King Kong who ruined the city? Thanks, but I won’t-“Julie couldn’t finish her word because Justin once again gripped her hand and pushed her to walk. 10

“I’m serious this time.” He hissed at Julie’s ear. “I think your father’s bodyguards try to find you here.”11

“But we’re under camouflage! They won’t recognize me!” Julie protested and looked back. She flinched and walked closer to Justin.12

“They will suspect you. Now, pretend like you’re my girlfriend. Hold my hand.” Julie held Justin’s solid hand and tried to smile. 13

“Hard to be your girlfriend, you know?”14

“Try, sweetheart.”15

“I told you-“16

“Just for this time, honey.”17

Justin walked slowly and relaxed, tried to act usual. He took a glance at the followers and they looked closer with them. “We couldn’t run. Keep following me.” The followers seemed closer to them and one of the started to stare at Julie with suspicion. He walked faster toward Julie and Justin. Justin embraced Julie and whispered in her ears. “Should we run or should we stay calm?”18

Julie stared at Justin with fear. “Don’t know…”19

“Stay calm, then. If I drag you, you should run.”20

But before Julie could say yes, someone touched her shoulder and turned her body. Julie could see a big black skinned man stared at him curiously. She felt cold suddenly took over her body. She held Justin’s hand tightly; afraid that he would leave her.21

“I think I know you….” The black skinned man murmured under his breath.22

“I’m sorry, but I think she didn’t know you.” Justin said, tried to be polite even his feet felt so itchy to kick the black skinned man who stood in front of him. 23

The black skinned man stared at Justin then he seemed found guidance about the girl in front of him. Before he could grab her, Justin already punched him and dragged Julie away and pushed her to run faster. He pushed the crowd to give him way. Justin led Julie to an alley and pushed her to the wall. He opened his cap, his wig and his fake beard. He opened his coat, wrapped his stuffed with it and kept it inside his bag.24

“What are you doing with open your camouflage?” Julie asked with panic.25

“Hug me.” He insisted26

“What!”27

“Should I repeat it again? Hug me or I kiss you.”28

Julie bites her lips and threw her face away. Justin grabbed Julie’s waist and hugged her while Julie hide her face at Justin’s shoulder. “Pretend to cry.” Justin could hear Julie sobbed at his shoulder. The followers passed them but one of them stopped and stared their hugging figure. Justin turned his faced and stared at the follower madly.29

“What? Are you never had a girlfriend before? For god sake, go away!” Justin shouted and the follower looked afraid with Justin’s acted. He walked rapidly, left Justin and Julie. 30

“You stink…” Julie groaned and released herself from Justin’s hand.31

Justin stared at her deeply then sighed. “Forget it…” He said and walked away.32

Julie stared at Justin’s back and felt some guilt crawled inside her heart, but something warmer was stayed there before the guilt come. Julie ran after Justin and walked beside him. 33

“Thanks…” She said softly.34

Justin took a glance at her and turned to the passageway. He didn’t answer.35

“Why you did that?” Julie asked while tried to keep in track with Justin. “You could just let them catch me.”36

Justin stopped suddenly and turned around; he faced Julie and stared at Julie with his sharp eyes. His jaws got tensed and he gritted his teeth. “Do I need to tell you why?” He said we a tensed jaws and walked faster to the old black door. He opened the door and walked along the hall. Julie followed him with guilt inside her heart, she felt so sad to see Justin mad at her like that. She felt like she lost him…..but her rage covered all her sadness and her guilt, she could only felt irritated with Justin silent act.37

Justin smashed the door opened and found the room was empty. There was a note from Casper, said that he was at Kimberly’s apartment and won’t come back at least before tomorrow morning. Justin threw his bag to the couch and walked toward the window while the sunset shone toward him. Julie appeared at the door and stared at his figure that looked like a silhouette under the sun shine. 38

“Why we always fight?” She insisted. 39

Justin turned around and gave her a sour smile. “And why you even care about that?” he asked back roughly. 40

“Because it’s feel bad, because I don’t understand you!” 41

“Yeah, did you think I understand you? It is impossible for me to understand you and you don’t have to understand me either.” Justin shouted without even a glance to Julie42

“Why you have to shouting at me like that?” Julie hissed.43

Justin turned around and stared at Julie with unarguable eyes. “When did you start to care about my act to you? You never protest before this.”44

Julie fell in silent; she just realized that she didn’t know the answer. “Could we just talk normally, without anger between us?”45

“What is the definition of normal? I think this is normal.”46

Julie groaned and stared at Justin with irritated look. She just could hold on much longer with this situation. 47

“Why you stare at me like that?” Justin asked roughly.48

“Because I wondering what’s wrong with us.” Julie said, hopelessly. 49

“Us? You said what’s wrong with us?” He said as he walked toward her and stared at her intensely. “The problem was you, Julie. Everything was about you. You came, acted like a freak, helped us with our crooks job, being fearless and useful…..it’s all about you, Julie. Didn’t you realize it?”50

Julie stood silently; it felt like many knife hit her just in one am ambush. She didn’t know what she done. “I…am I wrong? You couldn’t blame me! Who trust me? It was Casper and I never done something wrong with you. Did I ever hurt your feeling?” Julie shouted back at Justin, she felt really mad because she didn’t know her fault at all.51

“Damn, Julie! Yes, you did. You not only hurt my feeling, you turned it to no more than a Jelly Fish stuck inside my body. You know what’s wrong with? You know what was made me act like this?” Justin walked closer and pushed Julie to the wall; but this time Julie felt so weak and she couldn’t do anything. She could only heard her heart beating faster, faster and faster as Justin’s face got closer to her face. She could feel his breath when he talked. “This is….something unexplainable…something that I thought I’m not gonna ever feel.” He whispered and for a second it seemed like Justin wanted to kissed her, but then he smiled and moved back. “Stupid girl….” He mocked and walked away.52

Julie felt a sudden rage took control of her. She wanted to punch this guy just for once. She walked toward Justin and raised her hand when Justin turned around and grabbed her hand. He grabbed Julie’s face and pushed his lips to Julie’s. The acted was rough but his kiss was so soft. Suddenly, Julie felt like her legs couldn’t hold her body much more longer. They stood under the sunset, made a weird silhouette. But then Justin released her and stared at her with different look; seemed like…..53

“You know the answer, Julie. Why we always fight…I just couldn’t let myself to….. all went wrong.” Justin smiled, a sweet smiled he never gave before and walked out. 54

Julie walked toward the couch and slumped there. Her heart was trembled faster than before; she never felt this and she just realized the reason for the bad relation between her and Justin. Just a simple word but she couldn’t verbalize it. She could only think about it. Love… she closed her eyes and sighed. Damn, I’m falling in love…55

Justin leaned at the hall wall but the slumped. He never done this before, never felt this before and it was felt so….he hardly admitted that he felt relieve after he told her the truth. Now, he is wondering if she felt the same thing…56

His safe phone rang. “Hello…” 57

“Hay Justin, I’m sorry I call you this late. But there’s something I need.” Sam said across the phone.58

“What is it?”59

“I think we need more ropes.”60

“Great, another shopping. I’ll buy it tomorrow.”61

“Thanks buddy.”62

Justin put his safe phone down and sighed. He won’t enter the room, at least until Casper went home.63
