In the not so distant future, the media has become the world's biggest indulgence. After the second stock market crash of 2013, most of America became broken. The wars in the Middle East remained proxy wars that devistated into parts of Eastern Europe and Africa. War wasn't fought for oil or money anymore. They were just fought. 1
China became the world's main centural power in economics and industry. America still relied on China for it's products and goods but were somewhat forced to rely on themselves. 2
Big enginering companies, like Exxon Mobile and Walmart became more powerful as they spread their business throughout the world. Americans became slaves to working in these industries and were forced into manuel labor that hardly payed. 3
Television was a person's only escape from their hardships in life. Everyone watched TV after they got off work. Mothers would place their children in front of the television set while they worked. It was their babysitter.4
Re-runs of old shows from the nineties played since no company had the time nor money to make new shows. The only new shows that came out were game shows. A remake of Who Wants to be a Millionare? but this show was now called Who Wants to Escape? 5
People would gamble what little money they had at resturants or bars on the contestants that were in the game shows. It was like betting on horse races. 6
Except the people betting their money usually lost when the contestants would lose. The profit from the bets would not go to the people who would win the bets but it would go back to the game companies. Either way the people would lose money. 7
There is a new game show that just recently came out called Deadly Tactics. 8
The premise of the game is where contestants compete for the prize of $4 million dollors. They go through a series of challenges that involve them in near death situations. There are four stages and a series of different tasks for each stage. Once contestants complete the third stage, they go into the fourth stage. The hardest and the deadliest of the four stages. If you survive the fourth you win. But that is if you manage to survive the others first. 9
There are only a few simple rules that each contestant must follow in order to remain in the game. If these rules are not carried out, the contestant will be eliminated. 10
1. Remain inside the stage's domain.11
2. Do not team with other contestants. 12
3. Entertain the audience. 13

Author notes
This story is going to have ten parts to it. It is based on a series of dreams I have had in the past months. So if it gets really strange and horrific, welcome to my mind.
Sound alright as a sort of beginning?

This sounds really good! I can imagine it will get very weird if it's based on your dreams and what goes on in that mind of yours...XD

this is really good. i can't wait to read other parts, it's just so interesting. it makes me wonder. is this really what's going to happen to us in the future? it sounds so...deppresive, like people won't love eachother anymore. like tv is going to be our only true friend.
i love your story!

It's promising, and I can't wait to read the rest of it. I really don't like that future-apocalyptic-new-dark-age thing, but this one seems to be a bit different, and good.
'War wasn't fought for oil or money anymore. They were just fought.' - sadly, that's our reality. Not that wars were reasonable when thay had a cause to begin with.
Even more sad - television IS a babysitter for too many mothers.

omg i just relised somthing if youve had a series of dreams like this and what im predicting its going to be like it means that a big change has either happend or is going to that will drastically change your future -
-
Alot of my dreams are extremely translucent and vivid. I get the jist of them and create stories using that. The only thing I don't like about my dreams are that they always have happy endings that hardly ever come true. So, I won't spoil this story but I will say that it isn't going to have a particular good ending.

I'm very interested to see where you will take this as I like the idea a lot. The beginning was very good but towards the end I kind of felt that you were telling the story more than letting it unfold. However, the concept is very intriguing and so is this new world... Things have a kind of post apocalyptic feel to it. Everything seems different but similiar all at the same time and I want to know more about it. The game itself is really interesting and I can imagine that it would get gorey as each contestant progressess. Violence seems like a common part of this new world. Overall, I think this was a good intro and would be interested in reading more.

Thank you

Yes, there is a sort of post-apocalyptic feel to it. Creepy yet sad truth is that alot of stuff like that already happens....except for the game shows that involve you dying.

This story has some Epic possibilities. it opens the mind not to thought, but to wonder. what could happen next? what are the stages, could it be ... questions like that rushed through my head when i got to the end. it has almost limitless possiblities.
Excellent

It is going to be a small novel I hope. Like a pulp-novel, one that sinister little grannies by when they feel like being in a evil mood.
I am going to have the next few posted by tomorrow. Thank you for your comment
