It was never meant to end up this way.

The hailstones pelt at the single-glazed window as students look on with dread. Newly straightened hair will surely be ruined if they took but one step outside after class, let alone the freezing cold temperatures. Nevertheless, everyone ran as fast as they could to avoid the icy spheres. The boy branded ‘emo’ always ran the fastest; he’d always been good at running, even on the first day being chased all the way home. Jack had never been popular with those types of people. Although, there was no denying he was popular with the other ‘emos’; girls glanced whenever he walked through the corridor and he had a lot of mates, even if he was victimised by the others every day.1

He flew through the door and, as casually as he could (considering the circumstances), walked over to his locker where she stood. The smile couldn’t help revealing itself as he strutted towards her. His icy fingers pulled Hannah towards him and his strong arms wrapped around her waist. He missed her, he always did... being apart just didn’t feel right ‘I guessed that’s what love feels like’ he thought to himself as she held him back, slightly moaning that he was getting her hair wet. Jack released his grip over her and reached for his keys placed in his inside pocket: unlocking the metal frame, he threw his bag on the floor and reached for his maths book:2

“Maths... great” He spoke with the utmost sarcasm.3

“Oh come on, it won’t be that bad, maybe Mr. Laws won’t scream at you for not doing your homework this time” Hannah replied with a cheeky smile.4

Jack poke his tongue out at his girlfriend and took her by the hand; walking off to eat their lunch with others who had the same fashion as them. He greeted ‘the guys’ with a slight smile and a nod, and greeted the girls with a flirty glance and grin.  That’s just who he was, everyone was surprised the day he agreed to have a girlfriend, as everybody knew he hated commitment. And so, his mates thought he had changed, but noticing that glance, all the boys were reassured that Jack was the same old guy. 5

Maths dragged on as it always did... numbers were just so confusing! Jack always thought there was no use for them in our modern society because computers did it all for us, so he sat at the back as he always did and drew in his book, day dreaming until the bell rang indicating he could leave what seemed like a social circuiting dungeon. ‘Home, yes’ He was thinking to himself yet again, well... everyone always said that Jack was a day dreamer, while his grades were getting worse and worse, his creativity was expanding rapidly. Walking home was a blur, seeing the same scenes he did every day; his bag almost empty because he was on a ‘homework strike’, he was convinced he would be getting chucked out of school soon, and that’s exactly what he wanted. He hated school with a passion. As he turns the corner, his eyes set upon a sight that he never wanted to see: ever.6

Hannah pulled the boy closer and placed her soft lips on his. The boy didn’t disagree with these actions; he put his arms around her waist and pulled her figure towards him. Hannah placed her arms around his strong, amazing shoulders. His styled hair resting gently upon hers; anyone would think they fitted together perfectly. Unless you were Jack, his face recoiled in horror at the heart-breaking sight; the one girl he wanted to be with didn’t want to be with him. He strode over to them, grabbing the unknown boy by his hoodie and against the fence. Hannah screamed at Jack to stop... but Jack was in no mood for someone like her...7

BANG8

He hit him, she screamed out Jake’s name as a frozen tear stuck to her face.9

BANG10

BANG11

Jakes head slammed against the fence, almost snapping the wood in half. The blood flowing from his mouth and nose, his eyes jammed themselves shut in fear of losing them too. He tried to pull Jack off of his but Jack was way too angry... he couldn’t handle what he just witnessed.12

“Jack! Jack leave him... I... I love him!” 13

He stopped in his tracks, leaving Jake to drop to the floor in terror. He felt like he was going to throw up, he knew nothing of another emo kid named Jack, he lay there confused on the floor as he witnessed his attacker take hold of Hannah and push her onto the cold, unforgiving pavement. The now blurred figure stood over the girl, and turned away, walking through the rain as other gathered round to tend to him and his soon-to-be-ex girlfriend.14

“No... It was never meant to end up this way.”

    Joe

    • Yes I agree they can get a little confusing. I was silly to make their names so similar. Ah well.

  • OMG!!

    where's the next chapter, ahhhhhhhhhh?

    • It never occurred to me to right another part, it was English Coursework, so naturally I frowned upon it. But I will consider it.
