Dearest Quiet One, 4
They found another today. They tortured her and killed her only because she believed in The Craft of t he Wise. 5
It is no longer safe in Salem. The stench of dead people fills the air, even though the bodies were carried far away. Death, however, can leave a lasting impression, and I feel the emotions of those who have already been murdered. Alicia Little was hung last week after the men found her working with herbs and crystals; her screams and cries still haunt me. 6
It seems as though the world is coming to an end for all Wiccans. Every day someone is accused of being a witch. It has become so horrible. I suffer from headaches every day because the energy of those who have died linger in the air like the humidity after a summer rain. 7
Mother and I fear for our lives as well. The town has not liked us since my father died and Mother claimed all rights to his land and properties. They see her as too strong-willed and independent. This is considered a sin to those of the town. Mother and I have feigned ignorance until this point. We are both scared. She tells me not to worry however. She believes that everything will blow past and we will be left alive after this holocaust of religion. 8
It is hard to believe that just months before, people who now persecute us were our friends. They talked with us, and their children played with Bridget and Apollo. Now they shun us for our strange names and so-called “strange” ways. Whispers of “witch” and “devil” follow us as we walk the path to church to follow a religion we do not believe, simply to avoid the gallows. One may see it as cowardice or shame, but when faced with death, many people shake in their boots. 9
It is hard to believe that this is what the world has come to. 10

"It seems as though the world is coming to an end for all Wiccans" Wicca only started in 1950 or so, so it would be better if you replaced it with the word pagan. But yar, good work. Keep the ink flowing hun
