This reminded me of a show when this woman was trying to find her boss's non-existent son because she thought she was supposed to be in charge of him.

Gosh, I read this and went... I don't get it. Then I read the other comments and looked back realizing I read your labels wrong.
The brain wants to see what should be there, and that pretty much is the point of the prank too.
