The carcass of a befallen mountain lion lay in front of Juan, body cold and teeth bared on its jaw that had fallen open revealing the lolled tongue. Its eyes, in all its blue daze, looked so sad as if it knew death was to spring upon it like a predator.2
Dirt lay banked around it as if it was trying to keep its new resident warm. Leavers lay scatters upon its torso – four to ever limbs hinge work.3
The teenager respected its natural grace as he pondered over its death; its ears were tilted downwards. Its claws were curled in. Who could kill such a magnificent beast? Who could slay such a queen.4
He looked over its head, he looked over its body and a small crater embezzled its stomach use. He looked to the ground behind the Lion: nothing East, nothing West, rocks South and… a shotgun North.5
