The cup shook in her trembling hand, as she tilted it towards her lips. 2
"Wanna help me paint sweetie?"3
She shook her head. Her and her mother had been re-painting the nursery since the beginning of last week. It was hard to look at her mother now, without feeling uncomfortable. Her mother's stomach was continuing to enlarge, and it was just a matter of time before she would have a new half sibling. 4
"What's wrong? You haven't been acting like yourself lately."5
"Nothing Mom. I'm fine." She frowned. "It's just this rain, it's annoying. When is it going to feel like summer?"6
"I don't know Hun, I'm sorry." 7
Only eight weeks but it still felt like just yesterday, that he had been sitting in her basement playing video games with Danny. Eight weeks, and he was gone completely, almost like magic. 9
"Lauren, where's my Naruto game?" Her little brother asked. 10
"I don't know. Why don't you find something else to play with?"11
"I miss Jeremy." He grumbled, as he walked slowly back to his room to sulk. 12
She began to tense up. 13
She grabbed her car keys on the table and ran outside. Her mother opened the door, a stern expression on her face.15
"Where are you going?"16
"Lauren opened the car door just enough to peek her head through, and shouted, "I'll be right back."17
She hadn't driven her car since May, when the party had occurred. 18
After getting caught for a DUI, her mother had taken her keys and grounded her for a good two months. 19
Lauren sat in the car with the radio turned on, but still leaving it in park. She didn't know where she would drive to. Crissy was too busy hanging all over her new boyfriend, and Jeremy was definitely not an option. 20
