On Love and Life

Dear Blessing,1

Welcome to life. You're coming into a world where you'll be loved by many people. But you're made up of infinite love so you'll be able to love them all back. As you grow, you'll realise that this world can sometimes be a little scary and sad. Sometimes bad things happen. And though you'r mother will try her very hardest to shield from from these things, she won't always be able to succeed. At those times, remember us. Remember our love for you, and I promise you will get through them. life gives us sadness but it also gives us the tools with which to handle that sadness. Don't worry, you'll be fine.2

I'm sure your mother will spoil you a little, though not too much. All mothers do. Just always remember that those candies and toys aren't as important as the love she gives you. Love is an intangible thing sometimes but we could never live without it.3

As you grow up, and meet people, you'll start caring for them too. You'll have friends and and aunts and uncles and maybe ever one day a little sister or brother. It's alright to give them lots of love because there's always more to give. You can have as many friends as you want and you can love them as much as you want. Remember that when one day your friends try to make you choose who is best among them, who you love most. They don't realise how much love is in your heart and need you to tell tham they don't need to compete for it.4

And as you grow yet older, you may find someone you love o much it feels like your heart will burst if you don't get to spend every single moment with them. It really won't, though it seems that way. So don't forget the rest of us. Don't forget to love your friends and family, although you have a new love in your life. Above all, don't forget how much your mother cares for you and wants you to be happy. She has good advice for you if you ask her for it. And she's felt the way you're feeling herself.5

Right now you're just a little baby though, Lillith Rachal. You're our little Lilly. And we all love you with all our hearts, even though we haven't met you yet. But we will soon and I hope you like us as much as we like you. Remember what I said about the infiniteness of love; there's always more when you need it. And it can protect you from all the bad things in the world if you let it. Just believe.6

Beautiful. Little princess is so happy to have someone like you. We seem to forget that love is not something that can be measured. There is as much of it as we want it to be, or are able to feel. Thank you for reminding the rest of us about it.

  • I really love this write.

In paragraph 4, your "and" multiplied and it looks like you meant "even" rather than "ever"

"friends and and aunts and uncles and maybe ever one day a little sister or "

But maybe not. "Ever one day" has a bit of a ring to it so it might be worth leaving that way whether it was intended or not.

In para, 5 first sentence it looks like one of the "s" fell out of "so"

I especially love the sincerity of the letter. I hope you give it to her mother to read to her. So glad I stopped by to read it too. I think this does a great job of reminding us of the more important things in life

  • Awwwww. Thar was sweet. Are u her great aunt or is it something you just made up?

This is absolutely beautiful, even to an old hard-bitten lunk like me.
I'm sure the young lady will receive all the love she requires as well as all the knowledge she will need to get through life.
It looks to me as if she has been born into a wonderful family.

There's a couple of typos in there, but what the heck!

Aunt Divya, this is really beautiful. I'm definately showing this to Lilly as soon as she can understand it. I'll probably read it to her the first time when we're put in a normal room in the hospital. (Pictures will be posted as soon as possible, too.) Thanks so much for writing this. It's beautiful and it means a lot.
