For her, so many things seemed to go wrong in so little time, flooding her mind with worry and anxiety. Watching her friend leave on his bike over the pavement, she sighed and began walking through her school, a prison to some, an escape to others.1
Her feet dragged over the concrete sadly, her head hung low. Glancing at the ring on her finger, the glimmering peridot stones, guilt ran through her body. She sat upon what seemed like an island of grass amongst the concrete. Others wandered, though being few, as she stared into the clear sky, closing her eyes and placing her headphones in her ears, the sounds of Green Day's "Wake Me Up When September Ends" now blocking out her thought and making her mind quiet for once in all this week.2
After time, she opened her eyes and glanced at a pair of red dragonflies above her. Her eyes followed the curious insects, watching as they fought against a breeze, spinning and flipping in the wind like a paper airplane. Everytime they came close to the other, they became fast and furious, like two flamenco dancers dressed in red flowy dresses. The wind would push them back, but they persisted, taking it and dancing their courtship dance.3
Maybe, she thought, that's how things should be. The little creatures didn't try and eliminate the wind, for they knew they couldn't, but instead endured it and went on with their love. Every ounce of stress and worry she had felt rushed out of her body, as though it melted in the sun like a stray ice cube. She smiled and picked herself up, a new person in mind and spirit. But, as she looked up to watch the dancers once more, they had gone. She stared a bit sadly, but walked to her destination anyway. Who knew so much could be revealed in the Dragonflies Courtship?4
