A hectic morning ends and I decide to take a moment for myself. Pouring a cup of coffee and adding cream, the telephone rings, then the doorbell sounds and children come scampering in. 1
Two hours later, I find the neglected cup standing cold where I left it. Now where can I find that lost moment?2

I remember reading this, why didnt I comment on it? Ah well, i will now!
Something most people can relate to, even ones like me who don't have children! Really simple, but cleverly done, which is a hard thing to do when writing.
Can see why you won! Congrats!!

yep is 55
This is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for! You obviously looked back or had read some of these stories. I like the thought you have given us at the end. It not only reflects that quiet moment, but so many other moments in life.
Thank you for this, your effort shows.

I used to find my coffee cold in the microwave.
It had cooled, been heated, and cooled again. Thank goodness the kids are only small for a few years. I can't imagine running a daycare. I digress.
Your story is great, Sandi, very evocative of my own experience. I didn't lose any of those moments.

I'm forever looking for my 'cold cup of coffee' and the moment I had hoped to drink it. However, in my case it is absent mindedness!
I enjoyed this read. Thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest. -
I agree with you Sandi. Sometimes some moments went like a smoke over the water. You can feel it, you can smell it, but it is never going to be the same. Just those special feelings...
