Evoke

The boy walked along the sidewalk, casually but confidently. Yet, his grey eyes were dull today.1

He absentmindedly flicked a falling leaf away from his face, though it was just one more of thousands ending their lives in the autumn wind. Every once in a while, a car would pass by, even a motorcycle. But he never turned to look.2

A few minutes later his mouth pulled into a frown as he headed through a back alley. A thug waited in the shadows to mug the next passerby, but something about this boy stopped him. He just couldn't do it.3

He walked into a small coffee shop, the only customer in the building. As he walked up to the counter, the attractive young girl behind it asked him, "What can I get ya?"4

"A medium expresso, I s'pose," he said flatly.5

Moments later he took the coffee, paying with ones and quarters and leaving the change behind. He turned around and took the hot cup out with him. Then he began heading towards his next destination.6

The boy walked along the sidewalk, casually but confidently. Yet, his grey eyes were dull today.
