Artificial life [3, I just want to scream and lose control]

The school day went by amazingly fast for me, I was very surprised.1

I skipped out of the school building and was off to go find Sonny and Max. Sadly Andy went to private school, Tyler was a drop out and Joe was in college so it kind of sucked.2

“The twenty fourth at nine PM, right here!” A loud voice boomed from the corner ahead of me.3

I stopped dead in my tracks afraid I’d walk into the middle of a fight or something. Then I saw Sonny turn the corner looking completely pissed off, he walked right into me making me fall backwards.4

“Sonny what was all that about?” I asked from the floor.5

“Huh? – Oh nothing,” He answered bending down to pick up my bag.6

He helped me up and pulled me up rather quickly. At that moment I realized how close our lips were. I kind of liked the feeling… Sonny pulled away and we stood there quietly.7

“So you and Max huh?” Sonny asked.8

“Ohh, um yeah,” I told him shrugging lightly.9

Sonny looked at me deeply in the eyes and I felt heat rush to my face.10

We started walking towards the parking lot. I played with my bag till I got it perfectly on my shoulder.11

“Sonny do you know what I really want,” I yelled.12

“No, what?”13

“A hug,” I yelled louder.14

I lurched from behind him and hugged him around his hips. He chuckled lightly. I walked over to his side and stuck my tongue out at him.15

“Well, Audrey, do you know what I really want?” Sonny asked.16

“Tell me!” I whined.17

“A piggy back ride,” He yelled jumping on my back.18

He wrapped his legs tightly around my hips and wrapped his arms around my shoulders. He threw me off balance so I started to stumble as I walked.19

“This isn’t going to work!” I yelled at him.20

Sonny then wrapped his arms around my upper stomach, below my chest, and moved his legs down to my thighs. This threw me more off balance worse then the last one.21

“This better?” Sonny asked.22

“Sonny I can barely walk!” I whined trying to walk.23

“Run!” He yelled tightening his grip.24

I laughed and tried to run, but it was more like a rushed jog. We laughed loudly when I nearly ran him into a poll.25

When I stopped laughing I thought of something I wanted to ask him. Something I honestly want to know.26

“Hey Sonny do you have a girlfriend?” I asked.27

“No…” He muttered.28

“Do you like anyone?”29

“Well…no,” He answered.30

I reached into my pocket and pulled out my cell phone rolling my eyes. I checked the caller ID to see it was my mom.32

“Hello?”33

“Audrey you’re at school right?” My mom asked.34

“Yeah… Why?” I asked confused.35

“I’m going to pick you up! Bye” and she hung up.36

I sighed.37

“What’s the matter?” Sonny asked me.38

“My moms coming to pick me up,” I groaned.39

“Ohh…” Sonny muttered sadly.40

He jumped off my back as the mustang pulled up. He waved to me as he got in, I waved back making faces at Andy. I watched the car drive away and let out a sigh.41

Suddenly I felt someone from behind me wrap their arms around my waist.42

“Hey Hun,” Max greeted me.43

If he hadn’t said that I probably would have screamed. I’m a very jumpy person.44

“Hi Max,” I said.45

Max pressed his lips softly to my cheek. Again though, it didn’t really have an affect on me.46

“My moms coming to pick me up,” I said softly.47

“Garr…” Max groaned.48

Just as Max pulled away from my cheek I saw my mom pull up in the hummer. Max still had his hands around my waist.49

I was just about to tell Max bye, but the hummer door opened. My mom stepped out and started walking towards us. I would have laughed if this was someone else’s mom, but it wasn’t. Max tightened his grip on my waist, making me feel uncomfortable. 50

“Hello Audrey…and?” My mom asked looking at us.51

“I’m Max,” He answered for me.52

“Oh, hello Max… Is he your…boyfriend?” My mom asked raising an eyebrow.53

“Yeah…” I muttered.54

“Oh you’re Beth’s older son, right?” She asked.55

“Yea,” Max replied.56

My mom was silent; this meant she was thinking of something totally random to say. She always did that.57

“Do you know Sonny?” She asked him.58

What did I tell you!?59

“He hangs out with my brother… Personally I don’t like to hang out with the kid.” Max answered shrugging.60

The kid, ha, real nice! I bit my tongue.61

“Ah, I see what you mean. It was nice meeting you,” My mom finished.62

Max let go of my waist so I could go with my mom.63

I slipped into the hummer just as my mom did. She started the car and pulled out of the parking lot, for some reason she seemed a little mad.64

“I like your boyfriend,” She told me.65

“That’s…good.” I muttered.66

I never really cared if my mom liked my boyfriends, I only care that we both love each other. She knew that and I knew she only liked him because it wasn’t Sonny.67

Suddenly she frowned deeply at me.68

“We still have to talk when we get home,” She said sternly.69

We pulled into our drive way. My mom parked the car and we both slipped out in silence. I opened the door and saw my father at the table, my mom sat down next to me. I took a sit across from them. I already knew this was going to be awkward. Our ‘talks’ always were.72

“We have a bit to talk about… Your mom would like to go first,” My father explained.73

I looked at my mom. The big topic would be Sonny. 74

“Hun, I don’t like you lying to us.” She started.75

I nodded my head.76

“But going over his house at eight in the morning to help with a hangover and then lying about it is wrong! Heck, he’s not even supposed to drink!” My mom ranted.77

I nodded my head again, this wasn’t anything new. My mom would rant about my lying and my father would belittle me.78

“I mean his brothers have been to jail for drugs and his father is a drunk! It’s not a very safe environment to be.” She exclaimed.79

“I know that…” I whispered softly.80

My mom and dad looked at another and sighed.81

“Audrey what I saw last night was pretty bad,” My father started.82

I looked at him to show I was listening. I didn’t think it was that bad, I’d seen worse, drunk driving and all that jazz.83

“I mean you were sitting on the drivers lap!” He said louder.84

This is when he starts to belittle me. First he starts of calm and then gets angrier and angrier…85

“Plus they were all boys… In fact I’m starting to think you’re a prostitute!” He yelled at me.86

Tears started to sting my eyes. My dad sure had a way of putting things. I took a deep breath to keep the tears from coming out.87

“I’m not even sure why anyone would want you as prostitute, I mean look at you. You’re so ugly and fat!” He yelled louder.88

The tears started to fall from my eyes. My mom looked at my dad and whispered something.89

“You can go now…” He hissed.90

I walked like a zombie up the stairs. I reached my door and placed my hand on the knob…but stopped. I turned on my heels and ran to the bathroom. I shut the door and locked, after doing that I pulled the toilet sit up. I got on my knees and bent down in front of it, I pushed my hair behind my neck. I shoved my fingers down my throat.91

I threw up instantly. I’d been doing this seen I was fourteen. I hadn’t been doing it a lot back then, but I was doing a lot lately now.92

I flushed then walked back to my room, I started to cry as soon as my head hit my pillow. I sobbed so hard that it hurt my ribs…93

“Hey Audrey… Are you alright?” Sonny asked.96

“Not really…” I mumbled.97

“Do you want me to come over?”98
