The Stocking

The stocking was actually crying! The toy soldier stuffed inside heard the sobs and asked,"Why are you crying stocking? I didn't even know stockings could cry." "After Christmas, I will be put back in the box with all the other decorations," said the stocking. "You will get to stay out and play with all the other children. It will be one year till I get to see them again."  "I never thought about that" said the toy soldier. "but I have an idea." "What is it?" asked the stocking, as he wiped away his tears. " I will tell you when everybody is sleeping, do that they don't hear me."the toy soldier replied. At 2:00 in the morning, the soldier woke the stocking up. "Oh, yeah, your idea, what was it?" the stocking asked, sleepily. "When Dan,(the child that uses you) comes downstairs, you will be hanging here, but I am going to the kitchen to write a note, then I'll stick it onto-"  "What will the note say?" the stocking interrupted. "I'll tell you later, now may I go on without any interruptions?" "Yeah." the stocking answered. I am going to stick it onto you and when Dan sees it he will do what it says, it'll say:1

DAN,2

LEAVE ME OUT!!!! DON'T PUT ME BACK IN THAT DIRTY BOX!!3

And he'll do it!!"5

And actually thats what happened, and from that christmas on, the stocking stayed out of the so called 'Dirty Box.' 6
