Lemon County. Chapter 1, part 1

"Last stop, Lemon County. Everybody off!"1

Chris sighed as he stood up, and reached above the window to get his duffel bag. He slung it over his shoulder before making his way to the door. He nodded his head at the engineer before stepping down off the train. He walked through the small station and looked around, wondering where the phone was. He smiled as he finally found one. He flipped through the phone book looking for a taxi company. Chris tapped his shoe before somebody finally picked up the phone. "Hi, I need a taxi...the train station...thank you." He hung up the reciever before walking out the doors and sitting on a bench outside of the station by the street. After a few minutes the taxi finally arrived. He flung his duffle bag in the back seat, before sliding in beside it.2

"Lemon County High please," he said as he closed the door. Chris gazed out the window, looking at his surroundings with interest. Soon the school came into view. He gave the driver a five ashe once again slung his bag over his shoulder and walking the few feet to the doors. He walked in and found the main office rather quickly. The secratary looked up at him, from her seat. Her glasses at the end of her rather pointy nose, an annoyed look on her face which was hidden under a head of fluffy brown hair. She pointed at the office door beside her with a plaque on it labeled, Principal DeMonte. Chris dropped his heavy bag on one of the few red chairs lined up across from the secratary's desk. 3

He knocked three times on the door before he opened the door and walked in, closing it again after him. The room was on the small side with book shelves and cabinets lining the walls on either side of him. They were full of books, pictures and certificates. Behind the desk were two windows, with a nice view of the sloping grounds leading to town, and of course Principal DeMonte himself. Principal DeMonte was a well built man. He sat in his black leather chair his hands together in his lap. His short black hair and goutee were almost indistingushable from the suit he was wearing. He had small brown eyes, and his nose had a scar on the side. He looked at Chris with interest. 4

"Chris Martin I presume?" he asked with a deep voice. Chris nodded returning the gaze. He did not want to be there.5

"Right on time. I must say that we are glad to have you here at Lemon County. We haven't had that many people transfer here for a while. I hope that you will find your dorm and classes to your liking. You don't have a roommate as of yet, but will be bunking with," at that point the principal looked down at an opend file on his desk, "Josh Branson and Braden Somers. They have not arrived yet, but are expected within the week. I will inform you when they arrive. Here are youe keys, schedule, map, locker and locker combination. All in this file." He handed Chris a small folder with the information and keys in it. Chris nodded thanks before taking the file and standing up, "If that's all you need me for, I have to unpack. My things are already here right?" Principal DeMonte gave a small smile, "Yes, it arrived a couple of days ago. They're in your dorm already. The buildings are located down the street from the school. You have the choice to drive or walk. I'll hope to see you in school in a few days." Chris smiled before turning around and opening the door, once again closing it behind him. He picke up his bag and walked past the secratary who had gone back to work on her computer. He walked through the office door and made his way to the main entrance. 6

After a short walk Chris found himself at the doors of a large apartment building. He sighed looking up at the brick walls before putting the key in the lock and walking in. He looked at the file. Room 247. Third floor. He took a breath before starting the climb to his dorm. He walked down the long hallway until he reached the last door. 247. He put in the key and unlocked the door, stepping into a small entrance way. A number of hooks were on one of the walls with a shoe rack underneath of it. A lone nail was stuck in the opposite wall. Chris kicked off his sneakers not caring where they landed, before walking in the rest of the way. The living room was the first room he saw after leaving the entrance way. A black leather couch was already against the wall he was at, boxes filling the room. He dropped his duffle bag and walked across the room, to the picture window looking down on the town. There were lots of buildings and cars driving up and down the streets, with people conversing with each other in front of the stores. 7

Chris sighed before turning around to find himself looking at the kitchen/dining room. There was a table and four chairs already there, along with a fridge, stove and dishwasher. He walked over to the kitchen and opened the fridge to find it already stocked full of food and drinks. He closed it, and walked down the short hall to find four doors. Three bedrooms and a bathroom. He didn't bother going into the bathroom but opened a door to find the room full of boxes. He smiled as he walked across the room, around the bed and opened the window, letting a cool breeze come in. He looked back at the plain white room. I wonder if I can paint it blue? He sighed sitting down amongst the boxes as he started to unpack the larger ones first.8

After a couple of hours of unpacking Chris set off to explore the town. He passed many shops that seemed rather interesting, and some plain boring. He walked into a shop called The Luna Cafe.  The shop was a good size and had many small tables and chairs. The cafe was a nice shade of deep blue. Chris walked to the counter and bought a French Vanilla Capachino. He walked to a table near the window, and sat down, not paying attention to the man who was reciting a poem at the small platform. He sat there for a while and sipped his drink, before a girl came in and caught his eye. She was probably a few inches shorter then him. She had brown hair that went down to her shoulders; she had beautiful brown eyes; she had red lip gloss on her full lips and was wearing a a light blue tank top with jeans and black sneakers. He watched her for a few minutes before he decided that he had better leave.9
