The day everything went downhill: chapter eight

David went directly to his moms room, only to find someone else there. He went to the desk and asked where she was.  The lady he was talking to had just started her shift and didn't know what was going on, let alone if she could share any information with him about her whereabouts.  Luckily for David there was a nurse just getting off from her shift who recognized him. She quickly filled in the girl, then took David to his mother. She was headed into surgery. 1

David tried getting what happened to her out of her, but she was already in anesthesia and fading in and out. They took her into the room and David was still clueless. He looked for a doctor or someone to tell him what was happening. Nothing, no doctors in sight. David went to the waiting room, and called his aunt. She came up there and sat with him. David hadn't talked to her in a few months so he had a lot to tell her. Plus most of the important things had happened in the last 72 hours. 2

The first thing he wanted to tell her was about Amber. He got it out and right as he said "Gone" he started sobbing. His aunt didn't know what to think. She had no idea anything was wrong. She comforted him. After a while of that, David told her about what had happened when he was at Amber's. His aunt told him about the bad feeling she had always had when it came to his father. She knew something was wrong with him and he was only trouble. She told David of all the times she warned his mother. How she knew some day he was going to blow and hurt someone. Davids mother was too stubborn to listen to her sister. 3

It had been quite some time and a doctor finally came out. He said that surgery was going well and as of right that moment, there were no complications. David gave him a puzzled look. The doctor asked what was wrong. David asked why she was in surgery in the first place. The doctor explained that when his father hit her with a bottle, part of the glass from bottle got stuck in her head. They weren't sure if it was causing and discomfort or harm, but it needed to be removed. David tried to understand this considering there was no blood. The doctor said that it was because her hair either covered it, or her body had become accustom to it so quickly that no blood was shed. 4

David's aunt had been a nurse for a long time and went to talk to the doctor alone. David just sat there. He was glad surgery was going well and couldn't bear to think of losing his mother. Then with that thought, Amber came to mind. Was she in surgery? Did she get help right away? Did she die because they didn't help her soon enough? Was there anything he could've done?5

David figured that since his aunt was there, he could go out for a drive. He needed to be alone right now. His aunt understood and let him go promising him she would stay there. David left. He went driving. He drove everywhere. Almost to the next state. He found a nice little road side diner and stopped for a bite to eat and something to drink. 6

David was sitting there, and being the handsome boy he was, he was approached by 3 girls. They attempted to talk to him, but David ignored them. He never even looked at them. He didn't really care either. Having girls talk to him wasn't the thing he was worried about. He didn't need an ego boost either. He just wanted to eat and get back to the hospital. He was just finishing up his last few bites, when he heard a loud truck pull in. David thought it sounded like his dads truck, but wasn't sure and he wasn't in the mood to take a look either. 7

He finished up and paid. On his way out, he had to walk past a good amount of booths. He happened to glance into one of them, and saw his dad. Not just his dad though, his dad and another woman! David was enraged. He looked at his dad with the worst look anyone can give someone and said, "Meet me outside? I have something I'd like to talk to you about!" David stood there waiting for a reply. His dad looked up at him, and said, "One Minute!" and looked back at the lady he was with. This really pissed David off. He walked out side making sure to make a scene.8
