Chpater 11

Storm padded through the alleyway, chest puffed out as usual and head held high. He glanced around him. 2

The scent of Bolt was still strong. The plan was simple. Once Dr. Calico's henchmen drove Bolt and Penny away from each other, the cats would use the recording of Penny's voice to lure Bolt to a certain alley. Then Storm would complete his mission.3

Suddenly a fluffy white cat dropped heavily from a dumpster as Storm walked past. Storm halted, eyes erect like a soldiers as usual.4

The white cat padded toward him, its green and black collar beginning to beep. 5

"Alright, you know your mission?" it asked, looking distracted and bored. 6

Storm nodded. "Afirmative. The mission is to kill Bolt and lure his person, Penny, to me by barking. Once she arrives--"7

"Yeah yeah, I know all that. But there's a slight change in timing plans. Bolt is nearly to the trapping point."8

Storm never changed his facial expression, but instantly sprang forward into a run, going quickly and grimly towards the place where he and his rival would meet for the first time...and, if all went well, the last.9

His silver fur rippled under the muscles that were straining to get him to the meeting point on time, though he had absolutely no need for his super speed. He was almost there, he could scent the smell of Bolt, the smell he had been taught to memorize in all his training from Dr Calico.10

Skidding to a halt, he took a few deep lungfulls of air. This was his mission. If Storm failed, then it would get harder every time for him to attempt to kill his master's arch enemy.11

Growling softly, he acessed his super speed and ran up the wall he had paused next to.12

Alighting on the building's roof, he padded to its edge and looked into the space between this building and the next; the alley that was the place where Bolt was destined to die.13

Hearing the recording of Penny's voice saying 'Bolt, help! Help! Help, Bolt!' over and over again, he scented the air.14

Gazing down, he saw nothing but the dank wet alley. Everything there was gray, the stones of the pavement, the walls of the building that bordered it, the trash cans and dirty papers inside it--15

Storms ears pricked. A patter of paws racing at high speed but slowing down reached his ears. A blur of white fur......There he was. Looking just like all the pictures his master had shown him but real, Bolt the super dog burst into the alley srowling and looking around wildly for his precious Penny.16

Grinning, Storm sprang down from the roof of the building, down the twelve feet to the ground, and landed on Bolt.17

The white super dog was caught utterly off guard, but his reflexes were pretty perfect, just as Calico said they'd be.18

Bolt arched his spine suddenly, throwing Storm off of his back. Storm landed on his feet in front of Bolt, growling.19

Bolt, having never met or heard of Storm, growled too, wearing a cocky smile on his face. He obviously thought that Storm was just an ordinary dog.20

Storm, sure that he had so much suprise in his favor that Bolt was as good as dead, acessed his laser vision. His pupils turned as blue as the rest of his eyes, he gazed at Bolt.21

Bolt's own pupils had turned green whenever he used his laser vision, so in a secind he knew what Storm was about to do, but he couldn't believe it.22

Blue lasers flashed in steady twin beams from Storms eyes, straight at Bolt.23

Bolt's jaw dropped in astonishment, but he had enough sense to try and dodge the laser vision.24

He tried, but he had hesitated too long, and though it didn't hit him full on, it hit his paw.25

Bolt yelped in pain, and Storm felt a twinge of satisfaction. Bolt's expression turned to anger, and his pupils turned green, laser vision shooting out.26

Storm dodged, narrowly missing getting fried by the lime green lasers from Bolts eyes.27

Storm again fired his own laser vision, but Bolt did also at the same time. The green and blue lasers collided, and pushed against one another. It was a match of strength, and Storm's laser vision was weaker than Bolts. He had to shake the white super dog's concentration.28

"I bet you want to know where your precious Penny is, huh, SuperSnow?" asked Storm in his low voice.29

Storm felt his opponent's laser vsion weaken due to lack of concentration.30

Bolt growled. "Who are you? How do you have super powers, and where is Penny?"31

Storm chortled. "My name is Storm. Penny might as well be in my masters prison without her precious Bolt, because once I'm done you'll be history!"32

Bolt fired his laser vision harder,and Storms blue laser vision was pushed back.33

Soon Bolt would hit Storm. Storm rolled to the left, stopping his laser vision.34

Bolts laser vision hit the building behind Storm, and the two dogs circled each other. Bolt was limping from the laser wound to his paw.35

"Where is she, you poser!" growled Bolt. Storm snarled.36

He lunged at Bolt, and knocked the white dog into the trash cans.37

Bolt disappeared in the clattering bins, and Storm padded grimly forward.38

Suddenly Bolt burst from the trash bins and pinnedStorm to the alley floor on his back. 39

Storm growled and clawed Bolts chest with his forepaws and his stomach with his hind paws.40

Bolt didn't budge, but glowered down at Storm. "Where...is...she?!" he snarled, snapping dangerously close to Storm's neck. 41

Storm growled. "You won't be seeing her where you're going, Bolt!"42

He accessed his super strength and pushed Bolt off of him, sending the white super dog flying into the air.43

Bolt limped to his feet, and Storm rushed at him.44

Inches from his target, Bolt said, "My move."45

Placing one hind paw firmly behind him and puffing out his chest, Bolt turned his head away and...46

"ARF!"47

Bolt's super bark echoed around the alley, and Storm was flung to the wall.48

He hit it hard, and slid down the rest of the wall int a pile of silver trash bins.49

He groaned, raising his head groggily. In the distance, Bolt was limping painfully but as fast as he could to where Penny waited.50

Storm had failed his first attempt at terminating Bolt.51

But at least penny would never know that Bolt had failed, for no onimal can speak to humans.52

Laying in the pile of trash, Storm decided to wait there until his head cleared to return to Dr. Calico and show him he'd failed.53

The mini-camera in Storm's collar would show Dr. Calico everything that happened. 54

Storm got to his feet, and was about to super-speed it back to the hidden base when a whirring sounded above him. 55

Storm looked up. A yellow and black helicopter with the green-eye simbol landed on the roof. A rope ladder decended into the alley, and Dr. Calico followed by two henchmen and a white cat climbed down to stand in front of Storm.56

The white female cat came skittering up to him, a look of contempt etched across her face and flickering in her eyes.57

"How'd it go?" she grunted.58

Storm ignored her and tood erect with perfect posture as he waited for his master.59

Dr. Calico walked up to him, looking with disgust that only a British man can achieve at the alley around him. The henchmen, their guns poised for any sign of enemies, strutted importantly behind him.60

"Storm! Lets have that camera, boy." he said with a wicked but expectant smile on his face. He snapped his fingers and a henchman ran up, unbuckling Storm's green-black-and-yellow collar.61

The man handed it to Calico, who plugged the collar into a device he had brought with him. The device was attatched to a por62

The cat, whom Storm acknowledged as Lacey, ran up one of the henchmen's legs and sprang onto Dr. Calico's shoulder to watch the recording of Storm's first confrontation with Bolt.63

The henchmen watched as well, and Storm waited. 64

Dr. Calico's expression changed from that wicked smile to amusement when he heard the two dogs barking, but to Storms ears, the barking was speech.65

Then Dr. Calico's expression changed to rae when the tape ended.66

He gazed angrily down at Storm. "You failed? Ah! You mutt! Rghhh!! Bolt only had to use one small blast of his super bark and you went flying! Didn't your training teach you ANYTHING?!"67

He paced with rage, Lacey still perched on his shoulder. Finally the evil Doctor stopped. he stroked his chin, then Lacey's. "Hmmmmmm......"68

Calico whirled around and walked forward until he stood towering over Storm. "Very well! For the time being, we will return to the base. Perhaps that Proffesser will talk......come on Storm. But, you and Bolt WILL meet again. As for your punishment, you will carry Lacey here all the way back to the base! And you may not use your super strength to carry her, only your super speed to get there. Now, I shall see you back at the base."69

Dr. Claico turned to Lacey, gently setting her on the ground and petting her. "Now, my pet, I shall see you back home! Do not worry, my dear, Storm won't drop you."70

Calico climbed back into the helicopter and left Storm and Lacey standing there.71

Lacey obviously was not pleased at having to be part of Storms punishment. 72

"Huh! You're such a weakling! Couldn't even do any more damage to Bolt then laser his paw!" she snapped, tail and nose in the air.73

Storm, angry but holding it in, roughly picked up Lacey by the scruff of her neck and plopped her on his back. He was only an inch taller than Bolt, and so if Lacey didn't hold on she would fall every time Storm took a step.74

"Hold on to my collar, cat." he grunted quietly. She sniffed disdainfully.75

Storm was off in a blur of silver fur, going so super-speedily-fast that Lacey was actually digging her claws into his collar.76

[30 minutes later]77

By the time Storm staggered up to Dr. Calico's base, he was exausted. Carrying Lacey, though she was a petite cat, was awfully hard work without the use of his super-strength.78

When Lacey climbed off of his back she had a few scalding words to say about the ride. 79

A white with black and gray flash shot after Storm and the cat skidded to a halt in front of the Husky.80

"Hey, Storm. Where's the body?" He smirked.81

Storm growled. 82

"Ohhhh!" Shockwave smiled smugly. "You mean you FAILED?"83

Storm growled louder.84

Storm snarled, keeping and eye on the guards. He could say anything he wanted, and all the guards would hear would be barks.85

"Look, feline. I can laser-fry you right here and no one would know, because it mught as well be that SuperSnow, Bolt who did it. Get the picture?" he strutted towards the entrance to the lair that Lacey had already gone into. 86

Lacey turned around, hearing others approaching. She jumped from Calico's shoulder, and tensed at smelling them; a dog, and a cat.... wait, Storm and Shock.87

Rolling her eyes, she jumped back on Calico. 88

Storm sat still as a statue as trained in front of his master. On Calico's shoulder, Lacey sat sneering down at him.89

At Calico's feet, Shockwave paced, purring.90

It had been 5 weeks since Storms failure at killing Bolt, and he had been summoned here by Calico.91

As Calico gushed over how pretty and petite Lacey was, as usual, Shockwave grinned at Storm wickedly. "Don't worry this time pooch. The master has a plan, and this time, I can assure you that you won't be losing to Bolt again!"92

Storm didn't answer. Calico had stopped stroking Lacey and was now gazing importantly down at Storm.93

"Alright, Storm, this is your second chance. This time, Shockwave here will come with you! Here is the mission...."94

[A day and 30 minutes later...]95

The helicopter door slid open while still hovering over Bolt and Penny. Penny was riding on that gadget that turned into a scooter. Bolt was pulling her.96

Storm, who was riding in the helicopter, stood in the open door of the helicopter next to Shockwave. "Get ready, mutt." purred Lacey, riding up front with the pilot henchman.97

Storm glared down at Bolt, who glared up at Storm from the ground 18 feeet below.98

Over the hum of the helicopter's propeller, Bolt barked around the rope he was holding in his mouth to pull Penny as he ran, "You won't get Penny this time, poser!"99

Storm curled his lip, showing his fangs to Bolt. The helicopter was hovering above Penny and Bolt as they raced along the highway. The helicopter's pilot had been ordered to keep up with the fleeing Bolt and Penny so that Storm and Shockwave could do their part from the doorway.100

Growling, Shockwave fired his laser vision straight at Bolt, who zigged and zagged back and forth over the ground to dodge it while running.101

With his super hearing, Storm could hear Penny gasp at seeing another Bolt-like super-dog. "Bolt, look out!" she cried.102

Bolt kept dodging, and Storm continued to laser-vision at him.103

Shockwave grinned, and said, "Time for my part, keep firing as planned, Storm-boy!"104

Shockwave used his long tail to press a button on his thick collar, and a small hidden pocket in the collar slid open.105

Out of the collar pocket zinged seven miniature black boomerangs, heading dead-on for Penny.106

Penny screamed as she saw them coming, but ducked and dodged them as Bolt did the same for Storm's laser vision. 107

The boomerangs spun past her, then of course, came back, and Penny ducked and weaved, grunting as she dodged the tricky projectiles, which came spinning back into the agitated Shockwave's gadget-collar. The white and black cat grunted and tried again, with the same results.108

Storm growled, frustrated.109

He continued to laser vision, but then stopped suddenly. Storm stared at him. "Hey, what're you doing? Keep firing!"110

Storm winked at him and grinned wickedly, then using his super powers, climbed up the outside of the helicopter. He had to duck so that the blades of the propeller didn't chop off his head, but otherwise he made it to the roof of the helicopter.111

Deafened by the roar of the helicopter's propeller, Storm aimed at Bolt, who didn't know or see that Storm was on the outside of the helicopter, crouching underneath the whirring blades.112

Storm fired his laer vision at Bolts heart, but just as he did so the helicopter lurched. Bolt had hit the tail end with some lasering of his own. 113

Storms beam of blue laser vision hit bolt in the upper fore-leg, causing him to stumble then fall. Penny screeched her scooter to a halt, and picked up the fallen dog. Bolt's paws were so injured that he could barely even limp. Storm leaped off of the helicopter, carrying Shockwave with him to see if they could finally finish Bolt off. 114

Shockwave raced after Penny, his collar beeping and electrifying him with speed greater than any normal cat.115

Lightning burst from his collar tag and Penny's scooter was flung over a bridge.116

Penny landed on her feet, surprisingly uninjured.117

Bolt sat up, shaking his pain off and readying himself to attack Shockwave.118

Shock smirked. "Let's play, puppy-dog." He raked his claws across Bolt's white pelt.119

Bolt howled in pain, whipping around with laser-eyes at the ready.120

Bolt missed.121

"Strike one." Shock skittered around behind Bolt, biting his tail.122

Bolt yelped, growling and firing his laser-vision once more. 123

"Strike two." Shock teased. He cuffed Bolt's ear, hard.124

"Knock it off, feline!" Bolt snarled, firing hard at the cat.125

"Three strikes, and you're..." Shockwave flicked a button on his collar with his tail. An iron blast shot out of it, sending the white Super-Dog flying across the innerstate. "...Outta here!" Shockwave finished, watching with contempt.126

Storm padded up. "Its the girl the boss wants, Shock. She'll make that Professer talk! Hurry, she's getting away. She'll be back here soon, though, because she'll never leave her precious Bolt! You get her, and I'll take care of SuperSnow." he growled ominously as he turned to where Bolt lay stunned and motionless a few hundred yards away on the road.127

Shockwave nodded, and clicked a button on his collar. A small door in it slid open, and two iron feline-boots slid out. Shock placed his paws into them and electrified them, causing him to sprint unnaturally fast after Penny on her scooter. Lcey, who had only three things in her collar unlike Shock, (Which are, a grappling hook and a small sleeping gas bomb, but you can have Doctor Calico make her something else besides a collar Lily) did the same. 128

Two henchmen had carried her down from the helicopter, and they had their motorcycles with them, which they fired up and followed the cats on.129

Storm super-sped it to Bolt. He loomed over the white super-dog, who, at the aproach of his enemy, yelped in pain as he tried in vain to get up. His right fore-paw was stained ashen black from where Storm had hit him with laser vision, and his side was the same, only bleeding, from where Shock had got him.130

Bolt gritted his teeth and weakly slumped back to the ground. "Y-you'll never get Penny!" he said, his words slurred with pain and weakness.131

Storm snarled, and, with one movement, placed a paw heavily on the super-dog's side, causing him to yelp. "You listening, Bolt? Its too late! Give it up, Penny belongs to Dr. Claico now!"132

Bolt grunted, and writhed around, but Storm had put all of his super strength into the paw he was using to hold Bolt down with.133

Storm thrusted his head forward for the killing bite, but Bolt was thrashing around so much that Storm missed and his teeth bit down on the loose skin on the back of Bolts neck.134

Growling in frustraition, Storm knew he wouldn't get another killing-bite chance, so instead he lifted Bolt's upper-body off the groiund and shoiok Bolt back and forth violently.135

At first Bolt gave strangled grunts and wheezes, but gradually they grew weaker, and the injured white super-dog went limp and unconcious, not dead, in Storms mouth.136

Storm opened his jaws, dropping Bolt to the ground, and took a step back.137

THIS was what his master was so worried about?! THIS was why Storm had been givin cloned-from-Bolt super powers as a homeless pup? Storm curled his lip in disgust and contempt.138

Just as he noticed that Bolt wasn't dead and was about to kill him, Lacey and Shock and the two hencmen with Penny gagged and tied up on the back of their motorcycles ran up.139

The two henchmen picked up the unconious Bolt and set him on the back of their motorcycles and, with a wimper from Penny, re-entered the helicopter.140

Storm knew he had to stop them, thinking that the insane humans thought that Bolt was dead, until Shock said, "Storm, he's not dead, right?"141

"Right, so if they put him in there and he wakes up, he'll free the kid! We've gotta--"142

"Relax, mutt." hissed Lacey. "Its good that he's not dead."143

Shock continued, "Dr.Calico found out how to make a tranquilizer for Super dogs! THATS why there's been a change in missions. Bolt is to be tranquilized and taken captive along with Penny to the base!" 144

Storm rode grimly in the cargo hold at the back of the helicopter. He looked over his shoulder at the chair. Penny was tied to it, her mouth gagged.145

Beside her in a small iron cage lay a well-tranquilized, beat-up Bolt.146

Storm snarled in contempt at the snow white super dog.147

Penny, hearing this, wrenched her head back and forth until the gag came off. Her eyes burned with hatred as she glared at Storm.148

Storm rolled his blue eyes and turned his back to her.149

She stared curiously at Storm. Two of the henchmen stood guard at the entrance to the cockpit as a measure of extra security. Their guns were loaded with super-dog-tranquilizer darts.150

On the other side of the door, in the cockpit, Shockwave and Lacey stood guard on either side.151

Penny's eyes were still locked on Storm, her eyes narrowed thoughtfully at the super-power cloned silver dog.152

The girl spoke to the henchmen guarding the door. "So. Who's this little immatation of my dog? Whats Calico up to with him?"153

"That's top secret, kid. None of your buisness." answered the henchman.154

Storm snorted in contempt. Penny continued. "My dad would never have altered another dog for Calico!"155

The hechman and the girl continued to talk, the henchman refusing to answer any of her questions, Penny continuing to ask them. 156

Storm had just begun to wonder why she was insisting on asking questions that the henchmen obviously wouldn't answer, when he heard a hissing sound from behind him. 157

He turned to see Bolt, awake and grunting, green laser vision burning a hole in the mesh of his cage.158

Storm's eyes widened with anger. Penny's eyes met Storm's, and her's widened with fear as she realized that Storm saw Bolt escaping.159

Penny had been distracting the guards!160

"Bolt!" she cried in warning as the henchmen saw him as well and aimed and reloaded their tranquilizing guns.161

As Penny began to struggle in her ropes, Storm lunged at Bolt just as the super dog leaped out of the hole he'd made in his cage.162

Bolt whirled to face Storm, and the two rolled over and over in a heap of silver and white!163

Storm quickly pinned Bolt down and stood on top of him, holding him to the ground, just as Penny escaped freed herself from the chair.164

"You shouldn't have even tried, Bolt!" he growled, opening his jaws to strike.165

The henchmen aimed, pointed, and just as one fired, Penny reached him and pushed his gun higher.166

The tranquilizer dart missed, glancing off of the helicopter wall and coming back to hit Storm in the side.167

"Unh!!" grunted Storm in pain, feeling the dart sting as it injected the super-dog-tranquilizer cerum into his bloodstream.168

He stumbled off of Bolt, who scrambled to his feet, knocking Storm over as he super-sped it over to the henchmen. Bolt had them knocked out in a flash and broke down the door that led to the helicopter cockpit while Penny took a packet of super-dog tranquilizer darts and one of the henchmen's guns.169

Shockwave and Lacey--stunned by how fast Bolt and Penny raced to the helicopter exit door and leaped out-- darted into the cargo room. 170

Storm had collapsed, his senses dimming and beginning to feel weak. His eyes closed, acknowledging that he'd failed--again. 171

Storm awoke with a groan, to find himself covered in ashes. He had a fearsome headache too, and felt bruised all over his body.172

He was back in the lair, in a small room filled with exersize units that he'd used ever since he was a puppy to train to fight Bolt. A small ragged bed was in one corner, where he slept, and a large board with a life-sized picture of Bolt plastered to it rotated and moved back and forth across the wall.173

It was covered in ashen marks from where Storm had practiced his laser vision on it. Calico had also made a Bolt-Bot for wrestling practice.174

The walls were blain black, and there was only one door, which Storm couldn't get in or out of unless a human allowed it.175

This was Storms living quarters in Calico's lair. 176

Storm looked up to see Calico himself glowering over him. Lacey rode on one of his shoulders as usual, and Shock sat on the ground near Calico's feet.177

Storm's master stared at him. "So! You, Storm, have disappointed me again!"178

Storm hung his head, but didn't wimper or whine. He never whimpered or whined. 179

Calico continued. "No matter. According to your collar-camera, that little brat, Penny, stole a super-dog-tranquilizer gun and a packet of super-dog-tranquilizer darts." 180

(Which I will now abbriviate as: SDTD's for 'super-dog-tranquilizer-darts', or SDTG's for 'super-dog-tranquilizer-guns'!)181

Shock and Lacey nodded at Storm.182

Calico began to pace, saying, "Now we shall have to be more careful, for the little girl will definatly attempt to tranquilize you, Storm! I have a new plan, though, and this time, Lacey will play a part in it."183

He scratched Lacey's forehead and set her down gently, as if she would break at the slightest bump, on the ground.184

Calico then clipped a purple collar on her, and a body harness that matched the collar. The body harness was thick.185

"Now Lacey, show Storm your new ability!" ordered Calico fondly.186

Lacey bent her long tail upward over her back and brought the tip down to click a button on the harness. 187

Instantly, two rocket-shaped devices slid out of the sides, and their back ends glowed.188

Lacey reared onto her hind legs and began to hover professonally around the room, altering her body posture to go higher, lower, faster, slower, left, or right at her choosing.189

Storm watched the white she-cat fly around the room, until she hovered in front of the rotating Bolt board on the wall.190

She looked over her shoulder at Dr.Calico, who nodded proudly and snapped his fingers.191

Lacey's tail flicked to a button on her new purple collar that matched her hover-harness, and eight small devices shaped like cat-claws slid out. Lacey caught them in a paw and pushed her claws into them. They fit perfectly.192

Then Lacey flexed her claws. Instantly the claw-covers sparked up with electricity.193

Lacey raked her electrified-claws over the rotating Bolt board on the wall and then stepped back so that the others could see the effect.194

Eight black claw marks, with smoke drifting up out of them, etched in zig-zag form across the rotating Bolt image.195

Lacey laned on the ground, and deactivated her electric-claw-covers and hover-harness.196

Dr. Calico grinned. "And her collar still has the speed-fast paw covers and miniature grappling hook and sleep-grenade! Now, this is the plan. Bolt and Penny have found out where they THINK I'm keeping Penny's father, but its really a trap. You three, not to mention two of my best body-guards, will ambush them and then, Storm, you will..."197
