The day they came

It was the day they came.1

On the day they came the ground shook. We were helpless to stop them. 2

Many of us were screaming. Especially the young. They were the first to go. Slower and smaller than all the rest.3

After the chaos, was the settlement. Our homes were destroyed as theirs were being built. They took up large areas of space. We tried to negotiate, but they took no notice. They walked on. Past us.4

We were fading. Fading into the background. Into the background of ordinary life.5

We learned fast. move, Move, MOVE. That's all it was with them. If you stayed still for too long you were punished. Severely.6

But the worst part. The worst part of the invasion. 7

We had lost our voice. Our spirits dwindled as our numbers. They drank our water and ate our homes. We were out numbered and outclassed. Fading, fading.8

They were happy. It was evident. They took no notice of our sorrow and misery. It is hard to explain the unimaginable fury of watching someone live with such happiness while sitting on a hill with a magnifying glass burning off your antlers. They were content with torturing our souls.9

They ate up the land like a parasite to life. They sucked our planet dry. A leech to our blood and life line. Our planet was not abundant in quantity. Though the quality exceeded all their worth. We were a small people. Smaller since they arrived. And like us, so was our planet. Though we were outnumbered, those same numbers were against them. 10

And like our dwindling souls, there supplies dwindled, and so to their happiness. No longer singing and dancing at our helplessness. But to the contrary of their beliefs, this would not make us happy.11

They destroyed our planet. We had a love for our planet like no other. It was our home and protector. It gave us food and life. They had taken it for granted.12

But how could Jack ever defeat the Giant?13

We watched them in silence. Our screams no longer echoing through out the land. Our souls beyond tortured. We watched and waited to see what they would do.14

They seemed scared. They walked, quickly. Worried. Never happy.15

Then they had a meeting it seemed. All gathered in one place. They spoke nonsense. They had never tried to talk to us. We watched in silence.16

"The noise has stopped."17

They all were silent with it.18

"It was annoying at first but we had all got used to it."19

We watched. The first time they speak softly.20

"It seems too silent without it."21

They were as sad as we. We understood them not, but we knew they would leave. They moved slowly, again for the first time. We watched the pitiful souls leave our beloved planet. 22

We weren’t contempt, though this is what we wanted.23

They left us in ruin. Ruin is what they brought and ruin is what they take.24

We would die. We did. But as one being we pitied. We pitied the next creatures who would encounter the Ruin. Theirs. And ours.25

    • I'm glad u enjoyed it. It was for a contest and I chose aliens so I sorta wanted to make a story about Aliens that were so tiny that people couldn't see them but they still were there and cared about their planet. Does that make sense? probably not. Well I'm glad you liked it, thanx for reading

Was really a good read... left the audience with a mystery in the beginning to try and figure out what the narrator was trying to say.

P6: 'learnt' should actually be 'learned'.

There were a lot of sentence fragments... but that looks intentional for the emotion so I won't be too picky with it, I guess.

    Overall, good short read.

Wow! This was excellent. The feeling and emotion was Amazing... You really showed the love they had for their planet. This is a little sad though when you think on it. Isn't this what we are doing to our own planet.
