The Case Of The Murdered Guineapig

It all began when a lady on her way to work happened to glance into the window on her way past.1

What she saw shocked her.2

For there, before her very eyes was a guineapig which appeared to be dead. There was blood on it's back, and blood smeared on a knife nearby.3

The lady 'phoned the police.4

Sirens blazing, the police zoomed to the house in question. After barging down the door, they took one look at the guineapig and the knife and knew it was too late. Poor Guinea was dead.5

Of course there was to be a trial, and so...6

"Mister Harry Kettler, you stand accused of murdering the guineapig in cold blood? How do you plead?"7

"Not guilty" he replied, shocked.8

"Well then," went on the judge, "how do you explain the knife, the blood and the dead guineapig?"9

Before he could speak, an alarm went off near the guineapig. The guineapig rose up to his feet amidst shocked gasps from the court room. Yawning, he said "Time to get up. I will explain everything," said the guineapig. "I hibernate every winter, taking with me my favourite delicacy, a bottle of Heinz sauce. I must have knocked it over while I was asleep. As for the knife, I keep it with me for protection, what after reading these murder stories in the local papers."10

"Case dismissed" declared the judge and the guineapig was reunited with his owner.11

hehehe!! this was cool!! i liked it!! it was quite funny especially when the guinea pig began talking HOWEVER this could be more better if you put in more details, keep a close watch for nasty typos too, and jsut build up a whole deal of tense atmosphere before coming to the funny part!!! great job!!! hillarious!!

    thnx for entering the contest!

This was short and clear alright. I liked the ending and think you could easily expand this tale by building up the tension a bit. Nonetheless, this was an enjoyable read.
