silent tears

Silent tears fall gently to her pillow. She lifts her hand to wipe her eyes, tears soon come back bringing all her pain with them. She reaches for the phone, slowly picking it up and dialling a number. She hears the phone ring once and can’t help to hang up. Briefly she thins to herself what am I doing? She put the phone back on the nightstand beside her bed. She waits for hours waiting for it to wring waiting for him to call back to find out what is wrong. But yet still silence. Reminiscing back on the great times they had together brings a steady stream of silent tears back to her eyes. They fallow a steady pattern down her cheeks and she thinks more and more. One time stands out the most, standing on rocks overlooking the lake.1

The water was so quiet and peaceful the land so flat, the air was chilled but not too cold. The smell of a cool spring day floating in the air and the sound of waves all around. Soon the sound of waves turns into the soft pitter-patter of their feet, as they run so daintily along the rocks. She tries so hard to keep up but eventually just sits down. He comes to put his arms around her making her feel safe, filling every ounce of her heart with joy. She wants to cry so hard but she stands her ground and tries to be strong.  The sound of her parents walking back along the boardwalk startles her and brings her back to reality. She has to go again back to the car. On the way back to the car he gently whispers in her ear, ‘I love you and don’t ever forget it.’ Walking hand in hand they reach the car. The whole way home she rests her tired head upon his shoulder. 2

This memories fallowed by many others has come to make her see that she really loves him. The tears begin to fall this time they sound as if they are making a rumble as they hit her cheeks. Her pain is so deep and her regret and guilt even deeper. The confusion of what she had done wrong somewhere drifting around in her head at the back of every thought. Why did all the good times have to come to an end? This question ponders her day in day out. Is it  5 months of her life wasted on him or is it 5 months gained. Can he find it in himself to make her silent tears stop falling or will he continue to make them. The one boy she always thought would be their just turned his back on her and walked away. 3

Minute after minute these thoughts drive deeper in to her mind she can’t take the pain of the silent tears. She sits all alone in her room, unaware of her surroundings so sad and scared she awaits his small yet so comforting arms. She has never felt safe since he left she has never loved or cared since he left. The girl with the silent tears is awaiting her knits return, but knowing that it will never come.4
