Life is good… I get to sleep comfortably on this cushion while that poor simpleton of a fool runs around like a maniac knocking things down with his tail. The way he begs and displays his overabundant happiness is almost enough to make me sick… come to think of it actually at times it does. We are the pets… and therefore it is we who are in charge… that is the way nature has intended it to be. If you look at the dog though you would guess that it was those tall two-legged giants who were actually in charge… not the other way around… as it should be.1
The dog once told me that the giants are our friends… that they take care and feed us because they love us... because they cherish us. What a poor misguided fool. He eats anything that he is given, which can include the things that those giants discard from their plates and won’t even eat themselves. For me, if I am dissatisfied with their selection for my daily meals they are quick to be made to realise this. Within minutes my dish is quickly filled with something more appealing… not because they love me… but because they fear me… as it should be.2
Three times a day sometimes more, whatever the weather may be, that poor fool of a dog is sent outside and then told to lay down in the corner of the kitchen if he returns wet or dirty. Me… I go when I chose and my area is immediately cleaned after I am done, kept as fresh as possible for me… not because it is what those giants want to do… but because it is what they need to do. I am their Master and they are my salves… my will is their command… as it should be.3
Now it is time for me to stretch and tour my domain to insure that these giants have not left a mess somewhere… someone has to keep an eye on them. Overseeing that everything is as it should be is a very demanding task, one that requires a great deal of energy from me… so once my surveying is complete I will find a soft comfortable cushion or chair to rest on. These giants will admire my charms and beauty as they walk by and I will even grant them the honour of touching me. They will be made to feel my fullest wrath should their caress of my form not an admiring… gentle… and respectful one… as it should be.4
Later in the evening when the smaller, younger giants have returned to the home the foolish dog is assigned the duty to keep them occupied while the taller giants prepare the late night feast. I just watch from atop the couch well out of reach of the younglings’ hands which seem to enjoy far too much pulling on anything they can grab. I almost feel pity for that poor soul as his paws, tail and even ears are forcefully yanked… and more disturbing is that he seems to enjoy this. I am more than satisfied with being able to watch from afar and observe as the smaller giants provide entertainment for me… as if should be.5
The light of day has given way to the stillness of night and again the misguided ideas of the dog are made to be witnessed by all. As the giants sleep in their warm beds he lays down on the cold bare floor next to them as if he was protecting their slumber. Every time I silently pass by him I inwardly sigh in disbelief at him… at just how simple minded he is and how in some way it suits him so very well. So I let him sleep on the hard floor while I find a warm and fluffy section of the bed to claim… me on top of the covers to further display my supremacy over the giants beneath me. As the house cat I am their Master… as it should be.

This is so cute! I read something like this in an e-mail (it's completely different don't worry) where its in the dogs point of view as well as the cats. I loved it. The dogs point of view is like; "Food! Myfavorite thing! Ball! My favorite thing!" over and over, it just makes me laugh thinking about it. I was laughing through the entire thing. Thanks for the great read!

Good read.
Your story was entertaining and made me think you have been in conversation with my cat. This is him to a T. You captured the disdain he treats us with purrrrrrfectly!

lol... from experience having three cats at home I believe that the greater majority of cats fit in some way in what I described... hence the inspiration for the story ;-)
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the read.

Interesting story! I loved the language you used in the story, it was great. I found it interesting how you said the tiger or lion (I believe) was the master and the humans were its slaves.
