Obsession

I see you every morning
On the shower wall
Yesterday you were red
And today you are black
I could swear that you’re bigger
Than the day before last
I scrub at you, scum
But you only grow
You’re spreading on the wall
And mom saw
She yells at me, clean it,
But you won’t go away
You’re moving too quickly
Making me less
Making you more
You’re just hurting me
And hurting them worse
But I can’t stop you
I might even
Enjoy you
But I don’t understand
The professionals don’t recognize you
Because they can’t push you down
The ones who care don’t see me
Because I am not here
You’ve taken me, along with the bathroom floor
You’ve taken everything.
You’ve taken me,
And  ruined my life.

Author notes

This poem is about what tears me apart. No need for specifics, but think about what does this to you. Is there something you know you should stop because it destroys you and the people you love, only you're too obsessed with it to do so?
