Haiku inspired by my Dad

My dad wrote haiku
Hundreds about everything
Magical he dreamt 1

2

The clouds are waning
Stars dot the blackness of space
Reach up and touch them3

Sailing up and down
Out over the vast blue sea
only Rex and me4

The running dog jumps
Then flops down exhaustedly
Rex happily pants5

6

Dragons fly high above
Swoop down, fire dousing the ground
Laughs shake their bellies7

Over, under, through
Loopdy-loop and flippdy-flop
Ouch he hit the ground

Author notes

My dad used to write haiku all the time and I can't find the book he gave me full of them. I hope these are worthy of him and thank him for giving me and imagination.

They're not very deep or skillful, but I had fun writing them anyway

I am dismissing the first haiku. Is it intentional? It's out of flow either way.

No 1. This was beautiful and delicately worded!

No 2. Another nice one. A good moment.

No 3. Nicely to continue the last. Good.

    No 4. Fantasy. Nice!

    No 5. Absolutely fantastic!

    Great work!

Thanks for the bronze Asfand! The first one is the whole reason I wrote any haiku, my dad wrote so many and each of mine were inspired by his writings. Though he usually wrote about the seasons so I put my own little spin on them

    War of the words

Hmm... The first thing that struck me as I read these haikus was that you tried some haiku-ing for the fun of writing it, rather than to express something... As you said, they or not deep, but contrary to what you said, and in accordance with what lav said, they are really skillful. I liked the last one very much.. Somehow my funny bone was tickled

    Keep Writing!!!
