The day everything went downhill: chapter five

David went into panic. He hung up and tried calling home again. No ring, no answer, no nothing. He took off to his house. As he was pulling into the driveway, his dad came storming out and got into his '57 Chevy Silverado and took off. David ran into the house, worried about his mother and what his dad did to her. He got to the house and found his mother on the floor of the kitchen crying. 1

He ran over and sat down next to her. She was holding her head in her hands. David put his arm around her, already knowing what happened already by looking around the kitchen. Everything was messed up. Nothing in its original place. Davids father had officially gone too far. David didn't know whether or not to take his mom to the hospital or call 911 and tell them what happened. 2

After a little while, Davids mother calmed down. She looked up into Davids eyes and started tearing up again. David just held her and looked away. He wanted so bad to be strong for her, he couldn't stand to see her cry. While sitting there, David looked around the kitchen for the phone. He had to call for help.3

He finally saw it and told his mother he was going to go call the police. He got up and punched in 9-1-1 and it was dead. Davids father must have cut the phone line as he was leaving. This angered David even more. Why would his dad all of a sudden react to violently to something he knew was eventually going to catch up with him. He had never seen a violent side to his dad before, then again, he wasn't around all that much either. 4

David called 9-1-1 off his cell. He told him everything he thought happened. He also added that he wasn't there and his story may be off a bit. They said they were sending an ambulance and police over to take a look at things. David went back and helped his mom up and into a chair in the living room. He wasn't prepared for something like this. Especially after what had happened the day before. His body or mind couldn't handle this. 5

It had been while and the police hadn't showed up. David began to wonder if he gave them the right address. What if he told them someone else's in confusion? He got up and went out to the front yard, to see if maybe they had stopped a few houses away. Maybe they were on the way and right around the corner. Where were they? What could be taking this long?6
