dialogue for short story class

"Eeek!" Rebecca shouted. "Don't flick that stuff at me! I have things to do today!"1

Glen continued using a wooden spoon to send lemon juice soaring through the air towards his friend. "What's your point?"2

"Hey! Hey! That's enough!" Their laughter ceased and they caught their breath. "Didn't you say that you had something we needed to talk about?"3

"Oh, yeah." Glen's tone became somber and slightly withdrawn. He reached for Rebecca's hand. "Rebecca, I have cancer."4

Rebecca's face went blank, then a tear slowly made its way down her cheek. "But, Glenn..." her voice trailed off.5

"The doctor said that I have about, about six months. It's prostate cancer. But, don't worry. Six months is longer than it seems, and we can still enjoy the time that we have left until-"6

Rebecca caught Glen's hand, "But-"7

"No, no buts. It'll all work out. I'll have to go into chemo for awhile, but not too long. I'll be on my feet as much as I can. And-"8

"Glen! Would you listen to me!?"9

Glen paused, shocked at the sudden outburst of emotion. "What is it, 'Becca?"10

"I love you." Glen remained silent, unsure of what to say. "It's okay if you don't want a romance right now, with everything else you'll have going on. But, I love you. I love you. When you helped me back on my feet after Michael died...I...You swept me off my feet, and I've loved you ever since."11

Glen finally spoke, "You know it will be hard on you; the cancer, I mean." 12

"I know." 13

Glen had never seen anything so beautiful. The bravery shining in Rebecca's face was awe inspiring. 14

"Well, in that case, I love you too, 'Becca."15

    Wow...

This is sad! I think you should use this as an intro, or overview of a story, and continue with it! ~Amanda~
