Blue Moon Harvest (basic plot idea)

People are disappearing everywhere around the world - lonely people that nobody notices.1

Lonely people with no family, no life...2

Suicidal people are jumping off buildings and not dying. Putting guns to their heads and finding that the bullets have disappeared. Hanging nooses from their fans and disappointed when the ropes break. Throwing themselves in highways and missing every car, bus, and truck...3

There is a reason.4

Someone out there does not want them to die.5

Someone very special.6

A group of very special people, in fact.7

They live in pairs. A man to a woman. A woman to a man.8

One to five pairs are stationed in every country, depending on its size.9

They bask in the sun like reptiles, and barely need to eat. They live underground, and come out during the day to sleep in the sunlight. Their blood runs blue in their veins.10

And every fifty years, on every blue moon, they go hunting.11

The suicidal are saved, and harvested during the night. They are taken to underground chambers, locked in cages, rooms, chained in place. Sometimes the special people come in and torture them. Sometimes they come in and rape them, and practise their rituals on them. Sometimes they "love" in threes, fours, and invite other captives to join them...12

Sometimes they give the suicidals reason to live.13

Happy people are always tastier.14

Healthy people are tastier, too. Those who are well fed, well looked after.15

Those who think they are loved.16

The special people nourish their captives, until they are called to the Feast.17

The captives are taken, and a variety of methods are put into practice on them.18

Four captives from the harvest are tied to tall wooden posts, standing on platforms so high in the night sky that they cannot see anything beyond the mist. Their hands are bound behind them, then the platform is removed.19

The captives fall to their death, arms bent backwards and out of their sockets, skin on their backs ripped from their bodies and hanging off the splinters, falling through thickets of sharp branches with seasoning on the ends that dig into the flesh...20

And the four captives land in four giant pots of boiling oil.21

The special people cheer as the captives splash into the oil.22

They prepare the side dishes and the seasoning as the first four are left to simmer in the oil.23

Hundreds of special people are relying on this feast to boost their energy.24

The next four captives are bled dry, blood drained from their bodies and poured into cocktails.25

The dry bodies are laid down upon beds of salad, bread, sauce, and raven eggs.26

But one captive has enticed the emotions of its master.
And when emotions get involved, things turn ugly...

Author notes

Sorry, I cannot spare a prologue as I am bound to get kicked off the computer any time now...
So forgive me if this seems very rushed!

I am yet to think of a name for "the special people"...

When I first started reading I thought 'The Happening', but you've put a twist on it.

Very interesting storyline you've got here. Keep going.

The Happening? Is that a book, or movie?

It is a movie starring Mark Walberg. A virus or something strikes the city (any city, I suppose and they fight to survive and such. With a cast of characters that have different abilities and such.
