Know your enemy (all prompts used)

The night had finally arrived. The black sky was full of serenity. The darkness allowed a clear vision of the galaxy’s stars.1

Mandelene went to the woods with her lover John. She was sure that she would get a final explanation that would put her mind to rest. It was time to come to terms with what had happened. 2

It had been years since the accident occurred, but she still wanted to know whether her father was or not at fault. 3

Everyone kept telling her that he just got distracted and it was a fateful crash. She was sure that they were wrong. Her father idolized his wife and child so he was always extremely cautious whilst he was driving. 4

There were no other survivors left except Mandelene, who was just 3 years old, eating candy whilst sitting in the rear seat, until she fell asleep.5

She suddenly woke up because her mother was shouting at her, telling her to run away as fast as she could. 6

Mandelene remembers that she was petrified as she could see her dad covered in a pool of crimson blood; his head, titled forward, had steely eyes; his body was motionless. Her mum was trapped in the car too. 7

Mandelene ran away towards the woods. She remembers the loud bang and suddenly, the car became engulfed in flames; her mum screaming in agony.8

Mandelene was tearfully standing still, living the trauma of watching her parents burn without anything that she could do to prevent it. 9

After a short while, all she could do was feel the heat coming from the ashes of the car. A car that was obsolete, charred and damaged, no longer good for anything.10

She thought she was alone, until she met Lawrely, the fawn faun who was living deep in the woods.11

Her first impression of him was full of erroneousness. Lawrely was indolent, always playing his flute, the sound of which was very melancholic and gloomy. Yet he was full of individuality and eccentricity, a trait that was accentuated by his special gifts. 12

Despite Mandelene not being able to articulate a word, Lawrely knew what happened, for he had many gifts, one of which was telepathy. Through that, he was able to read her mind and he reassured her that he would do her no harm and that she could count on him as a friend.13

After such a long time, Mandelene returned, with John, to find out exactly what caused the crash in the first place. She went to visit Lawrely and, using peer pressure and fawning, she made him agree to tell her everything.14

Using his clairvoyance, Lawrely explained Mandelene that his parents had been assassinated by a gangster who was hiding in the woods at the time of the so called accident, which was a murder. 15

Her father would not give into blackmail. He was wealthy and had been threatened a few times, until the execution took place. 16

The events that Lawrely was explaining were so full of gory details that they shocked Mandelene. In her opinion, he was creating a dystopia, a nightmare world. 17

It seemed hard to believe that it really occurred. However, the thorough details, location and time scales given offered a great verisimilitude.18

When she enquired if he knew the killer so that she could question him to corroborate the facts, Lawrely paused, took a wooden stick and wrote three graphemes on the floor. H I M.19

Her mind went blank as she froze in fear. Her boyfriend had done it and his mentation was that of a cold killer.20

Wow, a great, descriptive story. At the end I was like holy crap run girly run!!! For such a short story I was blown away. Flashback stories are rarely done properly but you performed it superbly.
